I can pick up a used porter cable 7424 that is fairly inexpensive. Is the xp so much better I should only accept that?

I think the only difference with the XP is a slightly higher top RPM. If you've got an excellent deal, then GO for it.

Tools plus is a good site.

I have two of the older 7424s and they are great. The XP is a step up for sure, with a redesigned grip/switch. I'm not trading mine in!

Hit me up if you need the pads and polishes.

AND REMEMBER TO WATCH THE JUNKMAN VIDEOS BEFORE USING!

Also, there are very few tools I've ever bought used, simply because you cannot get them anymore. Make sure you know the person you are getting it from.

PCs are cheap enough, I recommend getting a new one. You can get some pretty good packages too!

Make sure it comes with the tool to change the heads.

Yeah, I think I'll just go with the new one. They're not that expensive anyway. Thanks for the input everyone.
