I need to replace my pcm and am confused about how I know what will work with my car. I have a 2001 GTS. If anyone knows how to figure out what will work I would appreciate it.

Whatever you do you need to get the new one from Dodge with your VIN set up and a stock program. If you want though I can get you a replacement with a tune etc... and have it flashed with your VIN. And when I say I can get you one I mean I would buy it from DC Performance and sell it to you (same cost either way) hope that is the answer you were looking for.

what price are we talking? Will the tune help the performance of my car? I have been talking with a guy who has a pcm from a 2001 he said should work for my car but I want to make sure that what I buy works for me.
These are the numbers found on my pcm sticker:

Motorola s/n 86A0600RN5SR
Daimlerchrysler p/n P05029 712AA
Module s/n TEM0812RN5SR RCEAH

The that he has has a part # 4865667 AC
He wants 400$ for it.

Viper PCM's are year specific. 1996-1999 PCM's are about the same, with small changes in the calibration for emissions. In 2000, changes were made for the new camshaft, misfire detection and fuel tank vapor emissions. In 2001-2002 ABS was added and the wheel sensors used for a speed imput. If you buy a year model specific computer (used) it should work fine in your car, but will have the wrong VIN#. The used PCM can by married to your car by programming the proper VIN# into it.

Many people use other year model computers because they may work better with modifications (cam changes etc). The best choice is to calibrate your controller for the modifications you have on your vehicle. This is what we do.

Feel free to call us about your custom program.

Is there anyway to change the VIN in the computer? Im keeping it mostly stock except for changing cats and exhaust. So I dont realy know if it worth having a custom tune. I appriciate all of your help.

You'd probably want to stick with your 712AA level part... the 667AC is the 2001 part but a fairly early version. The latest 2001 part which had many MIL light causing issues were fixed by via reflashes and the latest 2001 part numbers were 667AE and 667AF (AF being a service flash for knock if it was present).

The 2002 712AA part is virtually identical to 667AE except that the model year reported by the module is updated.
