Has anybody ever taken off their side sills? If so, what are they made out of? Is it a hard plastic with an aluminum insert or is it just aluminum like the Gen II's?

All aluminum, no other materials on them?

Yep, all aluminum, except possibly the area around the exhaust exit hole.
