To make a long story short I blew something in the engine compartment that threw a good amount of red fluid out the hood vents into my windshield :( Is this a power steering hose and if so is it tied into any other hoses?

Probably Mopar ATF+4...used as factory fill in 2004 and 2005 SRT-10's power steering pump...which also drives the cooling fan. Have heard of a couple of 2005 pump failures...may be a leak at pump or from the lines.

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. As Steve-Indy said, it probably the Power Steering. I experienced the same thing and the Dodge Service Rep said that one of the hoses had come loose at the Power Steering unit. Note, continuing to drive the car may result in further problems as the Power Steering Pump also drives the hydraulic engine-cooling fan. My engine certainly overheated quickly. I believe that one Viper owner who had like problems stated that his Power Steering unit was ruined by the time he returned home, perhaps due to running the car with the Power Steering unit "dry". Good Luck and please post your findings when known. Lynn

OK here's the deal... finally got the car properly flat bedded to the dealer sixty miles from my home.. now I know the proper tow hook locations..suggest you check it out BEFORE it happens to you...anyway the power steering seal blew out, not a hose connection or even a hose...service rep said they spent more time cleaning the under carriage then it took to put in the new pump...all and all very happy with the service nothing like a happy ending!

Dodge must have changed something in the 2005 pumps... perhaps manufacturers? I have not heard of a 2003 or 2004 failure, except for the recall in 2003- but have heard of multiple 2005 failures.
