I got my stock Gen II valve covers done from PBJ (joe donovan). They were powdercoated any color i want and block sanded to expose the logos then clear coated. They came out incredible and the price was great.

I had done while my car was at Roe Racing. They outsourced the work I believe locally there in FL. Amazing work was done and I love the look! :2tu:

Whoever you use, make sure they pull out baffles and clean EVERYTHING under the baffles and then put them back on.
If covers are sandblasted and baffles not removed, you're motor will eat sand.. but only a very short time.

On the other hand any reputable shop knows this. (More in case you deside to use a local shop.)

Yes good tip! i went with PBJ because they have done many viper valve covers before and were very familiar with them. they also removed the baffles and replaced them when done, PBJ even modified the baffles for my future Rockers install so i wouldnt have issues there :)

Get a can of high temp engine spray paint in your favorite color and do it yourself. Nobody will be able to tell the difference.

That looks great :2tu: IMO it would look even cooler if you let someone powdercoat the valvecovers to go with the color of the intake tubes of the Roe :headbang:

Thanks to all for thoughts.

1- Contacted Roe already. They said their person wont work on them because of "bubbling of gas from magnesium". Any thoughts there?

2. What would be a reasonable price for powder coating?

3. FOr the life of me, I cant remember where I saw a great two part valve cover. Essentially the base remained on the heads and there was a top plate that could be removed. Anybody rmember who made these?

Thanks

DAMN YANKEE,

Expect to pay roughly 300-500 for the powdercoating. It's a time consuming process and takes a lot of work. PBJ has been doing them for years and so far no cracking or bubbling.

I've had a bad experience powder coating these valve covers. Apparantly my local guy didn't know how to handle magnesium and got a lot of bubbles. I'm planning on sending them to Alan's performance to get redone. I'm sure PBJ can do them just as well too.

I chose to have them redone in shiny Viper Red to keep some of the color of the infamous Viper Motor!

I love it man!

Good eye. I have often wondered though, if you do not drive in the rain does a backward directional tire really make any performance impact??
