Removing body emblems

I was preparing to install new (black) side and rear emblems when I realized
that the old one's (red) must be removed first. I had thought that the new
emblem would just stick atop of the old ones (wishful thinking). What method should I use to remove the old ones? Hair Dryer?

I have had success with heat (hair dryer) and fishing line. Then some Goo Gone to take off the residual adhesive. Be sure to wax that area AFTER you apply your new emblems - otherwise they won't be quite so permanent...

Yep, hair dryer works. Heat and peel.

If you don't have any fishing line handy, dental floss will also do the job. Heat up the emblem, and "saw" through the adhesive. You can then remove the remaining adhesive with goo gone, tar remover, or even WD-40.

This is usually a fairly easy and clean job.

Special hint is to put a piece of blue masking tape under your original emblem, and mark the original location so you can put the new emblem back level, and in exactly the same spot as original.

The very first thing I did after arriving home with my new Viper from the dealership was remove "Dodge" and "Viper" from the rear bumper. Only after that did take a step back and stand in the glow of my new "mistress."

Interesting? Thinking of doing the same. How many others have removed the emblems? Anyone have photos of what an un-branded Viper looks like?

I took all of mine off (except the Sneaky Pete's on the hood and decklid).
Now I just get additional idiots asking if it's a /Jag, BMW, Vette, etc/. :smirk:
I like the look, but that's just my opinion.
No good pictures of the logos (or lack thereof). Click on my avatar, and you can see that there are no logos on the side of the hood.

Thanks for all the great advice.
I am planning on replacing the side and rear emblems
this weekend and will post photos. I think the black letters and numbers will make for a nice contrast on a
red viper.

Corseviper;
I want to put black emblems on my Red Viper too... Look forward to your pictures. Where did you buy them? Anyone else want to chime in where you bought yours?

Here are a couple red SRT-10's in our local club. Interesting that they are the exact opposite of one another!

I think that the "Dodge" and "Viper" decals should match the stripes for the car to give the best visual effect.

- White decals on blue
- Black decals on yellow
