"Search" function letting me down!

\"Search\" function letting me down!

Anybody having the same problems? Anytime I search for multiple words (such as 1999 supercharged gts), the search function will bring back ANY thread with ANY of the words. I'm looking for only threads with all 3 words.

Is there a way to include threads with ONLY the words I want, or is something jacked with the search function due to the new software?

You might try putting parenthesis around what you're searching for. It works on some forums, I.E. "99 supercharged GTS" would search for that exact criteria.

It also only goes back 200 posts. I wanted to look up something from last year, but when you do a "search for all posts from this user" it only goes back 200. Shouldn't "all" mean ALL?

Actually, I was searching for "clear front turn signals", but this happens everytime I do a search with more than one word. I just tried the quotation marks around the words with no luck. It seems the search function just finds single words now.

Right now, the search function has been pretty useless for me. You can only go back 200 posts and up to 5 years back. The lock out for another search really *****, I just hope it's not like this permanently.

Daddy Long Stroke... Click on "Advanced search tips" on the Search page for search tips. Here is what comes up:


Use +keyword for required keywords.

Use -keyword to exclude posts with a keyword.

Use quotes around a phrase to search for a phrase.

Use spaces around the word to match the exact word. Example " word "


As you can see, you should put quotes around your search phrase to search for your exact phrase.
