Hello Viper folks,
My shifter is the good ol' 2-foot-long stocker on my 99. I understand that a lot of the oldschool short shifter and shift knob options are no longer present. Any vendors these days selling the short shifter and shift knobs? I see IPSCO has a short shifter option which I was looking at.

I installed an IPSCO on my 01 a few years ago .. fantastic shifter, 10/10. Easy install, good short shift feel.

I had an Ipsco for my 1st Viper and it was great. But i heard many people say great things about MGW as well so for my 2nd Viper I got one from the Viper Store. I haven't installed the MGW yet. With any short shifter you choose, the Venom mod is almost a must add on.

The stock shifter is smoother and has more leverage. Short throw shifter moves the fulcrum point up. Or, you can move the knob down and get more fork movement per inch of throw with higher effort. I've tested several intermediate shaft lengths and went with mid-length and stock knob on the IPSCO shifter. For me, it's the best combination.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll spring for the IPSCO short throw. - just got their power steering pulley+bracket assembly

Do I need to get the knob lowering kit or was that for lowering the stock setup?

What are my options for an aftermarket shift knob out there that'll be compatible?

My recipe for a short shifter was cut the head off a bolt the length I wanted it to be, then cut threads in it to match the pitch of the shifter knob I wanted to use.

Honestly you might like a Gen 4 knob (1" shorter shaft than Gen 2, colored stitching, otherwise identical) on the stock shifter. Jon B had some on his site this summer when I bought mine.

If you do want a new shifter IPSCO is the way to go.

I put the Gen 4 knob on an IPSCO with the 1" drop adapter. So I have 2" of total drop. Tried the 2" adapter (3" total drop) and it was too low. 2" drop is just about perfect for me.
