The National Officers of the Viper Club of America have decided to move forward on the "Old Parts Project". I will be working directly with the National Officers and SRT. The purpose of this post is to identify the Obsolete parts and list them here. We need your input: Let us know what you have not been able to get or replace on your car. When we get a list together this list will be presented to SRT.

Please list the year of the car, and describe the Obsolete Part. Things like fasteners, antenna mount, weather-strips, side curtains, soft tops or even specific parts of a soft top, AC system and parts, etc.

Please be patient and thanks.

Jeff, this is great news! Thanks so much to all the national officers for taking this on.

For my '94, it has no a/c, and it's my understanding that kits are no longer available.

Thanks again.

How about those insanely expensive gasket kits and either not available or terribly costly body panels, those are two of the biggest pain in the butts that need to be addressed IMO.

GEN2 - RT/10 - Rear glass - GASKET ONLY

GEN2 - Side sill insulation itself

Just establishing this dialog with the members here is a HUGE step in the RIGHT direction.......

THANK YOU!

Isn't there a part for the Gen 2 that Chuck said breaks loose internally when people go to disconnect the battery. It is part of a very expensive wiring harness that I thought he said was in short supply.

Wasn't there a post a while back regarding not being able to get GEN 1 brake calipers? (They can't be rebuilt) Hopefully a Gen 1 owner will chime in.

Oh, and I have a couple...

Soft top rear retaining clips (scissor clips)

The peice of black plastic that mounts to the soft top to allow the scissor clip to go through. You can't get those for a GEN 1 either.

Sport pads were discontinued as well.

peice of black plastic around the front soft top mounting location.

BTW, It's nice to finally have our national officers working on this. :2tu:

Just thought of a couple more, door-to-body wiring harnesses that often go bad and stanchion covers on the GTS's with that integrated piece that all you guys curse and swear about because it's integrated.

This is the PDC (pwr dist. ctr.) and it is in short supply, though I was told when mine was replaced that the supplier only keeps a couple on hand, as demand is low, but they have the capability to make them up as needed. There was a huge core charge on the unit (as I wanted it for myself) so it seemed to make sense.

A new GEN 1.....

If not available, then:
- Stock Hood
- Stock Sidesills
- The plastic covers on door posts
- Door plastic cups
- Door handle retainer ring (The one with those silly 4 clips, that always break)
- Rear window with gasket and gasket alone

By brake calipers I assume you mean rear, since the reference was to no rebuild. Neither Dodge nor any reman brake shops offer Viper calipers.

However, any shop that knows how to rebuild a rear caliper for a 1988-90 Renault Alliance, 1990-92 FWD Dodge Monaco, or 2005 Lotus Elise knows how to and has the parts to rebuild a Viper rear brake caliper. And I'll keep doing it, too.

I might be wrong, but Gen 1 front windshields?
