I thought I would post some info. I heard today while watching last weeks GT race at Long Beach on the Speed Channel. Lou Gilotti's Corvette team claimed they were having problems racing against Bob McCann's Viper because they lacked ABS. The Vipers have ABS. Both traction control and ABS played a major factor in the outcome of that race. This is right off the Speed Channel, not my words. If this is incorrect, I would love to hear why.

They must have heard us ******** - the caddy wasn't promoted like it was the last race. They talked about all the cars this race and focused a few times on the vipers.

It was so cool watching a no-caution street race - my blood pressure kept climbing watching that black smoke pour out of McCanns brakes with fellows breathing down his neck.

I offer no spoilers, but even my wife stopped to watch that last lap.

Gilotti has a legit complaint. To add to the ABS dilemma, after the St Pete race Leighton Reese complained about ABS being a safety hazard because it will fail from time to time.

Just so you guys know, it's not like ABS is not an option for the Corvettes... It's just that Lou chooses not to have it and take the weight penalty :bonker: And now we're into the 3rd race of the year and we've seen enough of the C6 monster power that the Corvette guys have to look elsewhere to find something to complain about... :smirk:

It looked a helluva lot more like Lou and the boyz set the traction control to aggressive for the track conditions not taking into account how much grip there would be immediately following the Champ car race... IE: Note where Fellows found grip on the outside  to pass McCann! There was a buttload of grip out there and Lou's car just wasn't launching off the corners like the Vipers were which happens to be a real strong suit with the Viper chassis and very weak point with the Corvette C5/6 platform. If anybody has ever done any drag racing or autocrossing of both the C5/6 and compared it to the Viper you know what I mean about the fact the Corvette will NOT put power down at low speed...

It also looked like McCann had 'em ALL covered down the straight including Tommy which didn't hurt any either... :2tu:

It was great to watch the power of the Vipers on the straights. Imagine if Archer did not have to keep recycling the computer, he looked strong enough to win it.

I just hope they don't restrict the Viper engines any more since they've looked so strong of late... you know the Chevy boys are probably asking for that.
