I thought I would post some info. I heard today while watching last weeks GT race at Long Beach on the Speed Channel. Lou Gilotti's Corvette team claimed they were having problems racing against Bob McCann's Viper because they lacked ABS. The Vipers have ABS. Both traction control and ABS played a major factor in the outcome of that race. This is right off the Speed Channel, not my words. If this is incorrect, I would love to hear why.
Just so you guys know, it's not like ABS is not an option for the Corvettes... It's just that Lou chooses not to have it and take the weight penalty

And now we're into the 3rd race of the year and we've seen enough of the C6 monster power that the Corvette guys have to look elsewhere to find something to complain about...
It looked a helluva lot more like Lou and the boyz set the traction control to aggressive for the track conditions not taking into account how much grip there would be immediately following the Champ car race... IE: Note where Fellows found grip on the outside

to pass McCann! There was a buttload of grip out there and Lou's car just wasn't launching off the corners like the Vipers were which happens to be a real strong suit with the Viper chassis and very weak point with the Corvette C5/6 platform. If anybody has ever done any drag racing or autocrossing of both the C5/6 and compared it to the Viper you know what I mean about the fact the Corvette will NOT put power down at low speed...
It also looked like McCann had 'em ALL covered down the straight including Tommy which didn't hurt any either...
