I spotted this SSG/Gray Stripe Coupe on that auction site and noticed the low Vin# 00059...Viper Magazine(Summer 2008 pg.48) lists it as a SRT Experience Marketing car...I thought those cars were not sold to the public???:dunno:

Item number: 260318224947 Date of Manuf..08/07 an early car

Most of their cars are "reconditioned" and sold to the public.

They are factory serviced....ha ha!

I have personally seen to that:lmao::drive::lmao: I love getting to see what these cars can do when I dont have to pay for tires, brakes, or repairs. the last time SRT was in Vegas I hit the rev limiter more than a few times on the road course.:D when we got to use their cars at VOI9 on the drag strip there was smoke coming out the a/c vents when I got out!!:omg:

There all sold to the public, this time 2 years ago the 06's sold, always at below market prices. Some dealers know what they are, some think there factory demo's.

They are all sold to puplic.. MANY,MANY solid Red 2006 Coupes floating around, are ex-Skip Barber cars. "The" dealer in this auction, had several of these cars priced dirt cheap, a few years back.. For good reason...

Not sure if this is a marketing car, OR an actual "Experience" car...

These cars are absolutely tortured... (I went to SRT experience and skip Barber).. If this is an SRT car. In 4500 miles, it's probably on its 10th set of rear tires, and 2nd or 3rd clutch..

If this is the same SSG I'm thinking of, it got wrecked at the SRT day at VIR in July! I heard they didn't let anyone take pictures of the wreck and put it in the hauler real quick so it was out of sight! There was a thread about it a while back, around mid-July that had more details!

Things change............. Pre-Daimler, all the Skippie cars and most of the PVP cars were scrapped. Proving grounds cars were scrapped. Show-Marketing cars were the exception. The residual value of these cars was re-assessed in Daimler times, and things changed. Assets were recovered where possible, and these cars became available, usually WITH a balance of OE warrantee.

Can someone please show me the thread where they talk about the wreck at VIR? I would really like to know if this is my car cause if it is it is going right back where it came from.

Glad to see your dealership stepping up to the plate on this car. Maybe the new mantra is "change" for everybody, not just Washington:D

I think that this is the thread being referred to: http://forums.viperclub.org/vca-vip...rt-driving-experience-vir-july-16-2008-a.html

The linked write-up describes the wrecked Viper as a convertible rather than a coupe as being discussed here.

Thank you for your help guys. I myself was starting to second guess this car. Here is a picture thanks to JLA forums. The only snakeskin is silver stripe not graphite like I have.

Now that we have established that this is not the wrecked Viper I just wanted to put it out there that it is available for VCA members for 69995 in the classifieds or call me directly.

wow... not sure what to think about those rims, I guess it could be fun as a show only type custom car but I can't imagine driving that down the road. the term "ghetto Bling" comes to mind.

I'm surprised that you guys are so surprised that these press fleet cars make it out into the public. Manufacturers keep cars in their press and marketing fleets just for these purposes (driving experience, etc), and then after about 6 months they rotate them out with new cars, and the old cars get dumped at auction. Dealers pick them up for cheap cause they are a bit rough, they CPO them, and then sell them. It's quite normal...

I wrote about the VIR wreck at the SRT experience in July. The one that was wrecked was a venom red vert with I think stripes. I looked at it in the paddock and it might have had frame damage
