I promised I would show how I installed the ballast ignitor box from my Rand Distributing sourced HID kit. If you look close you can see that I cut out the plastic webs that are in between the two main mounting holes (the studs go through these holes and accept the wing nuts) in the inside of the rear cover for the headlight. Once the webs are hogged out the piece is still very stiff and the flat area is just the right size for the ballast/ignitor box. When you look inside the headlight enclosure you will see that this position leaves a ton of room between the box and the back of the bulbs. I think you could even stack two boxes in there if you wanted to do a high AND low beam install. I drilled two small holes in the cover and used #6 stainless screws with nylock nuts along with two-sided tape to hold the box. Note how the one #6 nut fits perfectly in between the cooling fins so you could not go with #8s. One screw is longer than the other. Once it is all reassembled all you can see are two stainless pan screw heads on the outside. I just tie-wrapped the wires to the existing harness to keep them away from the bulbs.

Michael - That is very helpful with the pic and details. I just saved this to my favorite threads as I am planning to do an install, as well. Did you consider doing the fogs too? I'm sure I'll PM you with further questions once I get started. Thanks, Rob

Did you consider doing the fogs too?
The fogs already had HID when I got the car. I was thinking about dumping the fogs because they do not appear functional to me at all even with the HID, then when I took the facia off to repaint the underside and install the Roe ducting kit I found that the HID conversion for the fogs was about as ghetto as you can get. Dumped the fogs, used the old fog light mounting ring with a 4" ABS pipe cap glued in to create an ACR-like plug for the fog position, but I am also trying something very blasphemous - I have painted my clear fog light covers silver to match the car effectively removing the fog ports altogether (idea was solidified when my body guy said I would always have "problems" with filling in the three little slots that hold the fog cover into the facia). At first I hated it, but it is starting to grow on me. Crazy heat and monsoon storms have hampered my ability to take pictures but I will this weekend. Between my silver wheels and gas cap, windshield banner and wheel graphics, and now painted fog covers, I expect to take some heat regarding the styling of the car.
