Now that Chevy’s got 500+HP in the 2006 Z06 version of the Corvette everybody is talking about it. We also hear about the Mustang GT500, the M5, Bentley GT. And so on. Nobody can tell you what horse power Vipers had in 2003. So let’s compare apples to apple. Who makes a convertible that can hold a match to the SRT/10? 2003 thru current?

the 996s(x-50) cab turbo is not even as fast as the srt-10 but is darn close but with the advantage of awd. the new f430 spyder is a match but at $225k the price is in another statosphere. other than those to if you want top down fun/speed i dont think the srt-10 has much competition

That's my point. You have to spend some big money to beat the SRT/10 Convert, and if were only about money I believe (**********) can put this Viper out of reach for almost any car.
Since I’ve been in the market for a SRT/10 I’ve had many friends and family asking me why I don’t get the Z06 NOW that it keeps up with the Viper. “It’s like if you have to ask, you wouldn’t understand”
I figure a simple 3.33 gear Quaife should take care of any and all Z06’s. Maybe a little something else as well.

Bottom line, Dodge needs to get the word out. Get the coupe in Le Mans and start backing some teams again.
If I have to hear Z06 one more time:-(

I am fortunate to have a 996tt cab. Don't have the X50 and it does have tiptronic. Two completely different cars. TT is car that does not require a drivers complete attention. Great cruiser, and very relaxing and can bring it on when it has to against 95% of the ricky racers that always seem to want a piece of me. Mines been to 167 on the way to Vegas kicking a SL55's butt from a 40mph start. My wife loves driving it, top down to the post office, hairdresser, girl friends, etc. MSRP was $138K. Only thing I did was put a set of Gemballa's on it. It is truly a beautiful car.

For just a little less money (by the time all the mods are done)the Viper is the most open top, or closed for that matter, fun I have had in a very long time. Nasty, aggressive and just as much an attention getter, possibly more w/the Corsa. Other open top exotics just get even more expensive and will not have any better fit and finish of either car I already own. That being said, I will be adding an open top Murci or Superamerica because I have been fortunate and want to have one. My expectations are that my 2005 SRT10 w/paxton and all the good go stuff including a traction control system will still be the nastiest, bad boy of my group and most fun to drive. And, for some reason, modifying it and taking it to the strip makes more sense than any of the other exotics one could own.

They are all fun, but for now my Viper rules. If one is allowed only one car there are two choices in my mind; a stock Viper vert or a 997 6sp cabriolet of comparable $. I have owned 20+ Corvettes in my life and still have a 66 427 roadster (of course). Corvettes and the typical vette owner got boring as hell starting with the c-3's.

Don't even worry about the occassional c6 z06 you may spy stalking you. The Viper stock w/exhaust is much more car and fun. Intimidate the guy by threatening to kick his ass and move on.

Absolutely nothing.

The SRT-10 convertible is in the absolute top class of speed, braking, and handling, virtually maintenance free, virtually corrosion proof, and can be serviced anywhere in the USA or Canada.

While looks are a matter of taste, the Viper has an EXTREME presence and a gorgeous engine compartment.

unless the GM finally breaksdown and makes a Z06 convertable there really are no alternatives to a ultra high performance droptop, that can be afforded by more than a select few. considering all of the compromises they make on most other products i still cannot believe GM has not done the droptop Z.

relimv,
You said it all, as the folks we have done Paxtons on , have all come back saying the "BEAST," rules. When you think about the dollars spent, with this single mod, it makes the Snake virtually unbeatable , regardless of price in the ******* World. If the SRT10 is rolling, the power from the ******* V10 is a sheer joy, and with it's torque, little can even remotely keep up. Good thoughts and this thread helps illustrate why cubic diplacement/torque still speaks in volumes.
