Watched a new commercial from Chevy run all night long tonight. Pretty well made and you can tell where the spy shots of the C6 on the transporter came from. Well made commercial with the new C6 driving onto a moving transporter followed by lots of other Chevy models, with the last one being the new SSR in yellow which pulls a 180 and then accelerates BACKwards onto the still moving transporter at which point a bunch of kids pull up next to the transporter in an old chevelle convertible and gaze in awe at the Chevy models on the transporter while the background music swells with the sounds of........OH Noooo....MAGIC CARPET RIDE.... made famous as the background music of the best Viper commercial ever made and introduced on the Super bowl halftime show back around 2000. THE GALL of those posers at Chevy....I see Bob Lutz laughing at us right now! ACCCCH!

Lee...I saw those repeated commercials too!!! I was thinking the same thing. They stole the Vipers song!!! WHAT!!! How can this be? The commercial was well presented and I actually enjoyed it until I heard the magic carpet song!

I saw the same commercial I couldn't hear the music for it. Performance issues aside, I thought the new Vette looked better than the previous generation - still not as eye catching as the Viper though.

I saw it too and thought they used the song to say "in your face DC!" I just hope DC has the last laugh.

DC need to use Clapton's Lay Down Sally in a commercial showing a new vette and SRT racing (road race or drag) while the SRT puts the vette to shame. Or Bob Seeger's Beautiful LOSER.

I thought the car (C6) looked better than the previous model and commercial was really good too, until I heard the verse or two by Steppenwolf at the end. PVO will have the last laugh.

Let's see score one in the last decade for GM. Oh wait, they haven't made a winning performance production car (GM stock vs DC stock 0-60 and 1/4mi) on the street since the early 90's ZR1. GM has been behind in styling as well. They still are trying to catch us.

Does anyone have or know where one can get a digital version of the Viper from 2000? I'd googled it to no avail.

Happy New Year all.

There is a DVD made of that comercial. It has the extended version on it.

They will not be laughing when the C6 tries to race the SRT.

I agree the BASE C6 will be no match for the SRT. The Z06 and "Blue Devil" may be a different story. In the meantime, the Viper has been and still King of the Hill.

Saw that commercial early this am. The new C6 looks good. The ssr looks like a truck that has been working out :) Wasn't the projected market for the ssr to be the younger generation? Sure does remind me of the older vehicles. (And more recently, what DC did with the Prowler and the PT Cruiser) I wonder if they will sell many of these. Good commercial. I'm sure I'll be sick of it by the end of the week.

If that is all the C-6 Vette can take away from the Viper is the song, then they are pretty sorry people over there.

But on the other hand it's like taking someone's flag too! Sums of biitches!

I had a whole house full of Motorcycle and car nuts. The new Chevy commercial came on and everyone thought the new C6 was the SRT Viper. I'm just worried about the kids -

"No Virginia thats a cheap imitation"

Come on Chevy get some of your own ideas.

Imitation is the highest form of worship! Thanks chevy for realizing that the Gen II Viper on a " Magic Carpet Ride " is still the BEST ride around. :2tu:

If the Blue Devil goes into production, I'm sure it won't catch PVO by surprise. If they are the savvy businessmen I think they are, they will have a lightweight carbon fiber Gen3 coupe with 650HP waiting in the wings, ready to go to battle for automotive supremacy. The leadership never sleeps. Uhm, you listening, PVO?

I saw it last night and almost logged...I loathe the dail up here at my wife's house so I bailed. I also love how they added those cute little side gills on the new Vette. Between that (which ar very Viper-like) and the Magic Carpet ride.....it is clearly obvious, even to the most casual observer, that "they" KNOW who is out in front as they mimic us!!! LOL!!!

Seems the Corvette guys are well aware what this tune is now associated with and don't like the idea all that much either!

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=720933

That was my thread over there.I try to be nice when I post on the c5 or c6 forum. My commentary was right on,and then the thin skinned vette guys start their Viper bashing. That was my last post over there,I resign my membership!!When I post anything on the ZR1 or C4 forum about the viper, the responses are positive and respectfull. They tend to be performance car enthusiasts, and are well educated with the fact that corvettes are what they are,and vipers are what they are.But the C5 and C6 guys are incredibly biased, and will not take the least bit of criticism, however valid. (not all c5,c6 owners, supporters, but enough to make a broad generalization )

You guys are dead on. If only Chevy's designers and pr department were as creative as you are in stating our true feelings in politically correct language, they'd start to catch up!

I just saw an Autoshow clip with the new Vette and all I can say it looks a lot like a Viper. Even my kids said "Dad is that the new Viper?"

What the HE77 happened to cutting edge styling? I'm just thankful I still have one in the garage to look at.
