Those with Corsas need question answered pls

I got my old system off and started to install my new corsa. On the passenger side the resonator only fits onto about 1.5"" of the converter shaft. There is a good .75 to 1.0 inches left to go to max out. I tried stretching it everyway and that's it. Was yours the same way? Is this OK?

Mine was that way but it is welded there.
