I'm heading to the drag strip with a few of my buddies on Sunday and need some advice. One has a stock C6, the other a 2001 Z06, so I need to give them a run for their money ;)

What are some of your recommendations for a great run! I went once before and got a 13.28 1/4 mile with a trap speed of approx 110mph with my stock RT/10.

What is the preferred launch RPM? Do you short shift 4th to get a a better trap speed? Suggestions?

Last time I smoked the C6, but beat the Viper when we switched cars...so I was clearly driving better. I'd like to leave these Vette owners with a clear understanding of TRUE American muscle!

Thanks!

Be Smooth. Launch at 2200, Shift at 5200.

I just raced a 2003 S/C Z06 and he only ran a 12.89 @ 118.23 with a 2.38 60'

Its all in the driver.

Concentrate on launcing as you see the last yellow flash and like Brad mentioned, do it around 2200. Try to practice shifting quickly(1-2,2-3) while driving around prior to the race. Update us when after the race :2tu:

No, not at all. Might screw up the cats and O2's when there is no tangible benefit when you're driving a NA stocker. You won't see any appreciable gain in performance over your standard 92 octane rated fuel.

(This is a STRIP question, not a TRACK question)

Does your 94 have any mods? At least filters/tubes/exhaust = HP and TQ.
Fresh PLUGS and WIRES. This alone could net 30+HP if yours are old!!

1) Lighten the car: mats, glovebox, trunk stuff (except spare-crush/crash safety for RT10) and 1/3 tank of fuel. Windows UP. Rear window REMOVED.

2) Assume stock OE tires: Drop to 20psi AT THE STRIP only..drive to-from full pressure. Better to use Drag Radials! Corner carefully on these babies.

3) If you wanna be anal, remove wipers and fold mirrors in.

4) Keep the motor cool before the run..open hood between runs, PUSH to and thru pre-staging.

5) Dont use the waterbox with OE tires. Tread sipes hold water. Burnout dry.

6) Stage deep if you can. When the final yellow ILLUMINATES, GO ! You should NOT see a green..... too slow. You should be looking down track by then.

7) Bog the launch...~~2000 rpm. Feather the clutch, hookup, dump. Minimize wheelspin at launch. Your 0 - 60' is VITAL. You want a 1.8 or better.

8)Shift FAST, the beginning of the yellow-tach zone, not redline.

9) Dont quit early! Know where the finish trap is at all times

(((I wanted a dialogue w/ you, but NO EMAIL in your profile.......)))

Here is my slip from last time. Car 239 - 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 (Stock). Car 240 - 2006 Chevrolet Corvette (Stock). I'm new to this, so don't know what's good and what needs work. Apparently my 0-60ft is a hair slow...anything else bad? Good?
