Is this a good idea? ...to stop the oil puke from the valve covers, I thought I could relocate the vent ports, by blanking off the ports on the front of the valve covers, and tapping new ones into the top face of the magnesium covers (highest point)? Has anyone else done this?

If you remove the covers and add a bead of silicone to the forward 1/3 of the baffle to cover seam this will reduce the oil going up into that area on hard braking.

Nadine, I drilled, tapped and fitted a 90 deg elbow at the center(front to back) and the highest point of my valve cover. I then ran breather hose to the same spot my valve covers used to tie into the stock breather hoses. It has worked great without a drop of oil passing after 8 months and four road race events.

Another option is using Gen1 valve covers with the PCV on top - just like the old days....

The Gen2s have a problem getting oil back to the sump from the heads. The new 8.2l ('03) motors are supposed to have additional drainback holes provided.
