I have a 2000 RT/10 and installed the VEC 1 about a year ago. So far the Mods are fairly extensive without doing the heads, and I have a 150 shot Nx wet system. Anyone in the similar ballpark with suggestions on where the settings should be? Also, can I leave the same settings for when I am not using the nitrous as when I do? I know I need to go by the instructions and "feel" the car for the best settings, but I'd just like some guidelines as to where someone else might be.

Thanks,
Andrew

The best thing to do is tune the vec1 on motor, than tune the nitrous on the same settings. You don't want to be switching the high setting every time your not using nitrous.
That was my question also, with nitrous they say to retard timing. You are actually advancing the timing when you go negative on the high setting.

No cam. Simple stuff. K&Ns, Tubes, Exhaust with hi flo cats, is all that realy effects the engine a whole lot. Did a 180 degree therm, gears, and other stuff that doesn't realy matter.....silicone hoses, lots of other stuff not worth mentioning for this purpose.

Thanks.

Hi Andrew,
The normal settings you'd probably use would be +12 on the low and -16 on the high, but check your A/F ratio meter at full throttle and make sure that's not lean.

For NOS, dial the low to 0 and the high to +4. That will retard timing and add fuel.

Regards,
Sean

Hold on, don't answer that! I must have been temporarily brain dead. To many distractions in my life. You're telling me to check the air/fuel meter and adjust the dial if necessary after I go by your recomendations.

Thanks, have a good weekend.

Sean, Can you run at those settings without using nitrous? I just got back from the dyno, I did 2 runs om motor at +12/-20 and made 454rwhp and 497rwtq with the a/f at 13-1. Made 2 runs with nos at the same settings and made 605rwhp and 688rwtq with a 11-1 a/f. My mods are full exhaust, vec1, 1.7 rockers and open air box.

Someone needs to set up a dyno session in the northeast so I can do similar runs to see what happens.

Andrew,
I heard that there is an "old man" setting for setups just like yours. I would call Sean to find out the exact settings for it.

Dyno day would be cool. NEW CLUB??????? I'm all for it.

If your A/F ratio was 11:1, I doubt you'd see much of a gain across the board with the settings I described above. But, some people do get an additional 40 RWTQ in some areas with those settings. It adds more fuel and backs a little timing out, which NOS seems to like.

Regards,
Sean
