LT-5, Don't believe for a minute that the GTS-R's were straight off a dealers showroom floor. As the cars development progressed they were less street based then you might think. Chassis C-1 through C-5 had much of the basic frame architecture in common with a production car but the later cars only had small sections. They were also wider than stock bodies. This was done to maximise front and rear track widths as the rules allowed. The motors were the similar to what was in the street car but those blocks were cast for the R program specifically. They ran cranks with main journal sizes similar (if not identical to) to the famed 426 Hemi. Rods were probably Carrillo and the rest of the engine included a host of other specialty parts. Nothing wrong with that since these motors had to last 24 hours of endurance racing.
