I heard of a Viper catching fire at Firebird Raceway in Idaho last weekend.
I don't know if its a member here or not and am just wondering what the rest of the story is.

Common track fire causes:
1. Power steering failures, hose, fluid cap, pump leaking fluid. Fluid on headers = fire! Can happen on the street as well as the track.
2. Hard braking heats front grease joints excess grease splatters to rotors and wallah fire!
3. Catastrophic engine failure oil on headers = Fire!
4. Fuel line leak = Fire
5. Brake caliper leaking brake fluid on hot rotor = Fire
6. Shorted electrical = Smoke and Fire
7. Crash causing fuel from tank or other source and we have Fire.
8. And rubber is another combustible source with a sufficient heat source Fire!

Thanks Fred but any clue who it was?
If you're not a member here then you probably don't own a Viper!

Okay Mr GTSV99, where there's smoke there's fire buddy so "slight melt down" means fire so what did you forget to tighten? Better read Fred's post so you can prevent this from happening in the future! :D
