I think Jerry from the NY Times is trying to insult Viper owners by saying it's irrelevant. He probably considers himself a car guy given his credentials.
If he was a true car guy, he might say he doesn't like it or likes other cars over the Viper but irrelevant?
Pretty limited vocabulary from a writer if you ask me. He is just going for the insult - he can't substantiate his position and clearly the Viper has made a huge impact on not just American performance & styling but on a global basis as well.

It wont be "irrelevant" when a Viper blows the doors off of what ever P.O.S. he happens to drive (probably a BMW :*****: ). I think the knucklehead that wrote this article has a serious problem
