They didn't even get the car yet. They have it listed as incoming. Don't know the history on it yet.

no way 75K - you can do better.

if you're patient enough you'll find a collector sooner or later in a must sell situation that'll let a mint one go for high 50s low 60s

i'd keep asking around if i were you - you'll come across a deal sooner or later. JMHO

you plan on this being a long time keeper?

I seriously doubt that will happen. Generally the people who can afford to buy a brand new Viper back in 96', and not drive it for 10 years. Dont suddenly get "hard up" for $65k. Supply and demand my friend...

Is it worth $75k??? The real question is, Can you find another one for less with the same miles???? Probably not... So, I would pay $75k for it.. But having a car and not driving, I would never be able to do it.

I hear your point. yes & no. I don't know where Jeff has drawn the line as to what is low mileage & what isn't. Yes, 39 miles is rare - maybe unlikely to surface again soon. BUT, another '96 with under 3K could easily arise. Is that still considered new? Low 60s is DEFINATELY possible. People get desperate to sell toys all the time. Usually in cash crisis situations, they are the first things to go.

Your comment of "Generally the people who can afford to buy a brand new Viper back in 96', and not drive it for 10 years. Dont suddenly get "hard up" for $65k." can support my position as well. Whats 10K less to someone with lots of $$$ who needs quick cash??

Many ways to look at this. But YES, there are deals out there. If Jeff is patient enough I believe he'll find one. One for LESS than 75K.

It would be to buy and sit. Or tow to shows.

It is worth whatever a collector is willing to pay, just watch what cars go for at auctions, you think to yourself they will never get that high, but they do. The more they get for it the better as far as we are concerned, well we being current owners, not people who are looking :)

Jeff-
That guy that is selling that B/W that Charlie T called you about is the way to go, I would have bought it on the spot for 55K if I wanted another. He's local, comes down to OBI. His car is freaking superb, he's more anal about it than me and that's pretty bad. It's as mint as a low milage car can be. I have seen it, it's perfect.

i don't know if i would pay that much for a car that sat around. it may be worth spending the extra money to buy because of the low miles, but years from now will it be worth more with less miles for a car you wont drive. How much more could it be worth?

Jeff- Met the guy in person first time just last week, totally forgot his name but he comes down now and then. Charlie T knows him I'm pretty sure.

If you want it as a garage queen, it may be worth the $75k b/c there's just not that many 96' b/w models with THAT low of mileage on them. But if you're going to drive it even 500 miles a year, i'd find one with more miles, save a lot of $$ and hopefully not have dried out gaskets like I bet that one has. Whats the point of paying premium prices for a low mileage car if you're just gonna add mileage every week?

They are famous for overpricing cars, and they didn't give anywhere NEAR that for the car! Not even close!

I wouldn't worry about dried up gaskets or hard seals, or anything else mechanical.

The car has 39 miles, no one is going to buy it to drive, so the mechanics of the car are not important.

Right now it's a museum car. Drive it a few thousand miles and it's just another nice Viper.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Yes, Im sure thre are several other "under 3k mile B&W's out there", in fact Ive seen a few recently. And you would be correct, I would say low $60's for them. But 39 miles?? Now your talking about a different car. That has got to be one of the lowest mileage GTS's of any year. And, IM SURE its the lowest B&W out there.

The price does seem high, but with two similar, low mileage cars going for 70K less than 6 months ago, who is to say. I have been astounded at what some average examples of 96s have gone for of late, and if you get a 9,000 mile GTS with work to be done for 55-60k, who is to say what the market is bearing for the ones that are beyond showroom fresh. I second guessed that this car would not go up as fast as it has 2 years ago, and I stand corrected. Unique color Gen IIs have been rising slowly for the past 8 months or so, and it will probably continue.Just my humble opinion, but there are fewer and fewer super clean GTSs and RT-10s out there everyday.

I believe there is a dealer here on this board that also has a 39 mile 96 GTS. Is (was?) that your car Bill (Pemberton)? If not, anyone recall the dealer and miles on his 96? It sure was low.

I bought my 97 B&W in March with 25 miles on it for $60K
That 60k price a couple months back was a large check to write at that the time but could possibly be the lowest priced "new" 96/97 available. Even that b/w 7k mile car that was $52k sure looks like a good deal. As stated before, in my opinion, DC could have killed this appreciation in its tracks if they would have come up with the car that everyone wanted (listed many times before as a "concept" car that everyone loved and if it would have had 700-800 HP, then who the hail would would wanted the Gen 2? IMHO, they've only increased the value for the GEN 1 & 2's by slightly changing the body and keeping the HP very similar to where it started out almost 14 years ago.

Well, that and the fact that there are VERY few made and they ain't making them again! :D

To top it off, there have to be 10 a week that are wrecked and slapped with salvage titles!

I paid 51K for my 97 with 2600 miles in 07/04. It was in excellent condition minus not having the recalls done.

Twin I don't think I would pay that much for a 39 mile car. Surely their are some real low mileage b/w's out there for less. What do you plan on doing with the car?
