Waaaaait a minute... I know that striped Vipers have the lower rear bumper in grey/black (second pic). The top pic show a string of white Vipers with the rear bumper in ALL white... meaning they are meant to be be solid-colored, and NOT waiting to get striped. Is all white a color option available, or is this another upcoming "limited edition"?

nice observation! :2tu:

does the lower area get painted when they are striped?

This is just a guess... They probably just spray the whole bumper white (or body color) to speed up the process in the begining. When they get to Prefix for stripes the probably shoot the lower area in black to make shooting the stripes a little easier/faster.

Like I said, just a guess...?

It would make no sense to paint it just to unpaint it later.

Prefix paints the lower portion black when they stripe it. For all striped cars there is body color under the black. I will add a picture later that shows the are masked off.

Like I said, to speed up the process. It's easier and faster to shoot a whole piece, then to mask it off and then shoot the paint.

It still sounds strange.....

First painting the whole car... than later repainting this area in black.

I wonder why they don't take some time to get the painting of the stripes right.....
I mean, a lot of people want the lower area in the body color with stripes. A special car like the VOI ed should be granted this.

How was this done in the past? The GTS has multiple pieces on the backside (upper part wich holds the lights and the lower, bumper part). Were does stripes painted?

I can't tell whether I like the wing on it..... just saw one picture. Or isn't this the complete VOI car?

I have to say, the best thing about the new coupe over the gts is the trunk... you can have a ricer wing now AND still open the trunk. :D

Do you need heavier pistons with that wing?

I wonder what those packaged cars in the back are.....

Looks like they made a bigger tail....

Wierd... the lines look more like a mustang... specifically the front cut, which doesnt line up with the painted front facia that it's next to. Could be new body style. EIther way, it was not meant for us to see. :(

That's why it made me curious.....

The roof definatly a Viper roof.... the front end could be the front without the fascia, but the tail is different. My guess is that we have a scoop.... but that is also what I want it to be.

Could it be this is the way the Viper is shipped to foreign countries?
The front fascia removed, something over the tail....

@Warfang
The front not lining up with the fascia is not a problem I think. The packaging can be wrapped a little wich prevents to see the spaces for the headlights.
I'm pretty shure the front looks that way when the fascia is removed... but maybe there are people with pictures of the fascia removed.
Don't forget the car is lifted...

Those are Vipers getting ready for paint. The front and rear caps are removed, the hood and trunk are opened and left raised slightly (so that they can paint around the leading edges), and then the car is masked off. Those cars in the background are standard body style Vipers.

It's not just the headlignt area... the line on the car slants down and towards the rear (like a mustang), but the adjoining end of the fascia slants down and forward. There's not enough bondo in the world to fill in that gap... well, there is, but you know what I mean. :D

I see what you mean but it may just be the way it is taped off and masked.

It looks to me like a VOI.9 coupe all masked off and ready for the stripes to be shot. I zoomed the photo in for you curious types:

It is just another white car staged and prepped for stripes. They have the fascia off (look to the right and you will see the front fascias. The rear fascia is intact, but the deck lid is raised slightly.

For painting the stripe area is prepped then masked about a foot outside of the stripe area. Then it is coated with a clear substance to prevent overspray on the rest of the car.
