There is an '08 ACR owner who is trying to sell his ACR with fewer than 200 miles on it. The worst part is, he is asking the buyer to pay for the sales tax that he paid for it when new, by adding that amount to his sale price. In other words, the new buyer will have to pay sales tax twice, once when he buys it from the original owner (to cover his losses) and again when he registers the car. I'm not looking for an ACR but if anybody knows this buffoon, you might want to explain this to him.

In defense of my Viper brethren, this heathen must receive a wake up call, repent his evil ways or be banned permanently from my fan club (it's a hell of a club).

I believe I saw the ad of which you speak. He is in for a rude awakening since people can buy a brand new ACR right now for MSRP. But, because the world is a strange, and sometimes crazy :crazy2:, place, someone with more money than sense will probably buy it for what he is asking.

Eh, I dunno... Pay what he wants now and get a (pretty much new) ACR now... or pay the same now and wait who knows how long? It's not a great deal, but it's fair enough.

Its not that much of a mark up if you really need to have it. Some dealers have charged more.

Thats reality. There are no cars in the dealers show rooms for sale.I am not going to loose money but I will break even.If I did not mention the tax and just asked 8k over you would have a problem with that also.If this is such a limeted edition car someone will buy it.I sold 2-gt3rs for 30k over sticker and they were used.

Any time you buy a new car and sell it, you have to expect to take a loss. Why try to screw your Viper brethren? ACR's will be around and '08 is not the final year for them. Asking more than you paid for the car new is ridiculous. I would gladly pay 10k more for a brand new ACR than one that had its cherry popped by somebody else. In your case, you are asking more for the one that you had your way with. Sorry but your seed is simply not that special.

I know of two ACR's on the lot going for MSRP. But some people just don't want to travel or have a car shipped.

The car is worth whatever someone will pay for it. I see no advertised ACR's for sale anywhere anymore. It's not like other cars that drop thousands in vaule as soon as they roll off the dealer lot. I wouldn't sell it at a loss, either. If no one buys it, I'd keep it. This is a "seller's market" car, opposite of all others.

Don't kid yourself; anybody with the cash can buy a new ACR from several sources. ACR's will be available in 2009, as well. Another point to make is that the ZR1 will be coming out very soon and guess what that is going to do to ACR values? It will have 638hp and over 600 lbft of torque. Either the 2009 ACR will have to find more power (doubtful) or it will be second fiddle. Either way, it leaves the '08 ACR at a likely position of losing its appeal and value. I remember the Z06 retards paying 15k over msrp when it first came out in 2006. They would be lucky to get 50k for those roof flinging bombs, now.

That's my point also: Anyone with the cash does not HAVE to sell. And there's no ZR1 out now. This car is for sale now. Someone will probably buy it. Not me, but somebody. If not at asking price, close.

The Viper has never played 'second fiddle' to the Corvette. Never will. Well..... unless you want an automatic grocery getter.

The ZR1 is going for way over sticker. The ACR will not play second fiddle to a ZR1! Look at the stats of the ZR1 v. ACR. You are way off.

fireball,
When it comes to performance, the '06 Viper was well off the mark from the '06 Z06, especially at higher speeds. Sure, the vette was a pile of junk compared to the Viper but the corvette masses finally had a nugget to cling to and they were in their glory.

Based on recent information, history is about to repeat itself with the appearance of the ZR1. It seems that Bob Lutz is intent on ending the life of our beloved Viper, while Chrysler is struggling to maintain some sort of identity. Say what you will, but it does not look good for the Viper's future and the main point is, the ACR's glory is most likely going to be short lived.

You are kidding, right? The ZR1 is expected to have 60lbft more torque than the Viper and 40hp more. In addition, the Viper's awful gearing will once again give the vette the advantage as it did in 2006. I would still rather have a Viper but most people would prefer the faster car, which will certainly be the ZR1.

My view would be if your not pressured to sell ask what ever the hell you want for the car...............
If you need to sell in the near future Your going to have to be competititve with the market going price......and 8 g's over sticker is not. Once all the ACR are bought up and someone does not want to wait for the 09, well you have yourself a hard to get car!! Good luck with the sale

What about weight, suspension, tires, aerodynamics and brakes? Look at the production numbers for value. 150-200 2008 ACR cars v. thousands of ZR1's.

Challengers getting 10k over sticker???? Are you kidding?? There are several dealers in the Dallas area that have them sitting on their lots because the original buyers bailed. Just look around...

The ZR1 will be hot for about 6 months, then tank like EVERY MODERN DAY CORVETTES have. You can buy a 2009 Z06 for employee prices right now...

The ACR is a VERY special car but....it has a VERY narrow audience. Not many Dodge dealers will want a $100k car sitting on their floorplan financing. Once the initial demand is met, these cars will drop quickly. Just reality....

As far as the seller asking for $118k for his car....more power to him. If he can get it, then he deserves it!

Check this one out the new 430 Scuteria Ferrari .Ferrari will sell to you if you are on their list for sticker.(Market value is sticker plus 100k right now )There is a Ferrari corporate mandate right now that you a dealer cant sell over sticker. If a dealer sells an individual a car and the individual flips it within 1 year from purchase that individual is blackballed from future new Ferrari purchases (Ferrari always finds out Warranty claims )Now Ferrari plays the game in offering the car to its customers if the customer does not want the car Ferrari askes the customer to buy it and trade it in to them a few minutes later(same price ).Technically its used then and Ferrari can sell for 100k over. The dealer can the customer cant.

People can ask whatever they want for anything. Getting what they're asking is another story especially in the current economy.

Roanke Motors in Illinois has 4 ACR's listed at MSRP on their Website.

I think you hit it right on! If you can get it, more power to you, get it while you can! I live in Virginia and sales tax for a 100k is only 3k and really 3k over sticker for that car is not a bad price. I ordered mine months ago for msrp and talked to the dealer yesterday and they have no idea when its coming in, they hope September? Some people make a lot of money and 3k to some people is pocket change and if that guy is looking for an ACR and doesn't want to wait your in luck! I also agree all new cars no matter how rare will probably take a hit initally but some like the Ford GT might come right back and actually appreciate like the GT has done. If they only make 300 or 400 ACR's before they stop production on the Viper the ACR model might actually fall in line like the GT or the 1998 GTSR Vipers and hold their money or even appreciate!
