Lots of threads about functions required on "sports" cars vs. nanny features. Here's a list to choose from. You can pick as many as you like.

Since throttle by wire and ABS are already on the newest car, many of the potential features are only software additions.

My 09 has a lot of what is on your list including NAV (which is almost worthless compared to NAVs in my other cars).

Almost everything on your list not on my 09 , if included , would make it a Vette, which is not (so far) what this car is about. :)

I have two categories of yes. Those that I want and those that the government requires in order to sell a vehicle. I think it is counterproductive to argue regulatory requirements in this forum. The "I will not buy a car with #@##$$@" means that you will not buy any car past the time when the requirement is mandated.

In the not to distant future measures will be required such for accident avoidance like automatically applying brakes when approaching an object or saving fuel such as turning off your engine when at a stop. Technology progresses things we like and things we may not want and may have no choice in whether it is there or not.

I voted for everything. I like buttons.

Even tho I was born/raised in SoCal, half my family is from Texas. So take this with the knowledge that I understand your plight: You're an Idiot.
:poke:
As far as the poll goes, I'd like to see 'em offer the option to strip/ leave off stuff. Sort of like the ACR ********, but with the verts as well. Nothing more need be added.

I never really thought about electronically adjustable suspension, but that might be a cool thing to have as long as it was a four-channel adjustment. Not that it is totally relevant, but I installed a two-channel in-cab suspension adjustment system on my JGC and after having it for the past nine years, I can't imagine not having it. It's really nice to be able to adjust the front and rear shock settings on the fly - not only for offroad driving, but also for high-speed highway cruising, canyon driving, towing, etc. On a Viper, that would be a nice thing to have - being able to adjust each shock from the cockpit without having to get out of the car would really speed up the dialing-in process.

One option that seems to be missing from the list is different diff ratios: 3.07, 3.33, 3.54, 3.73, etc. Seems many folks are switching to 3.54 or 3.73 on the GenIV's.

This poll is a great idea but why not make the list more complete as suggested above. I can think of a few items I'd like to see as options in addition to the ones above. After all the car is hand built.

Factory supercharger or turbocharger. :D

+1 on rear end ratio choices, heck they used to offer this as an option on muscle cars in the 60s. Maybe include a high performance rear end the the Q.

Rear end cooler, factory installed.

A user configurable gauge that would display any OBDII parameter that the user wanted. PLX already makes a nice one so this technology is there and not expensive.

Wide band O2 sensors factory installed or at least the bungs to do so.

A better radio. Even my track Viper has a sub and a better radio. Yea, so it adds 10 lbs, I'm not a good enough driver to notice the difference. And heck its a long way to some tracks especially without a trailer. Mine allows me to watch DVDs, ok, its illegal when I'm driving so I don't do that. ;)

Real Leather (I know, I know... but I have two Vipers, one for track that doesn't need this stuff and one for cruising that could).

Outside temp sensor (but God forbid they include one of those infuriating self dimming rear view mirrors like my Grand Cherokee has, I would seriously hurt them if they do).

ACR brakes on any Viper.

Shocks from Active Shock (check them out).

Brake cooling ducts in lieu of fog lamps.

A real roll bar in the coupe and convertible.

Data acquisition system (ok I'm reaching now).

User choice of colors (I heard Ralph Gilles, SVP Chrysler design, say a year ago that they were actually close to doing this subject to some fashion police. They wouldn't want a pink Viper with yellow stripes running around, at least not from the factory.)

Lighter wheels like the Copperheads (maybe the 09s have this already not sure).

Engine dress up kit, polished intake, etc. This was an option on early mid-60s Mustangs, why not 2010 Vipers?

A short throw shifter ala the MGW one.

Venzano interior upgrades.

Custom luggage (ok now I'm kidding).

Factory installed 5-6 point harnesses.

Padded console, my elbow hurts on long drives from the hard plastic.

Fire extinguisher mounting points.

Tom. You're getting tons of front page exposure here today.

So, now that your poll is well underway, how about a list of expectations and analogies as you did in the DD poll?

The first DD poll that is...

Where's the button for white hood vents?

Dave,
Just admit it, TX *****! We're crawling with immigrants and foreigners. TX is really another word for "sh!thole". Everyone should avoid this place like the plague. Don't come visit, don't vacation here & for sure don't relocate here to work! We're backward and drowning in our own feces it this giant cess pool.

California is the place to be! Everyone knows that! Duh... Where else can you give 15% of your income and receive so much in return. Magic Mtn, surfing & LA....sounds like heaven to me! West coast baby!!!!

I'm going to go and sit on my astro-turf covered front porch of my newly remodeled 1972 Fleetwood single-wide (river front property in the flood plain) and play some banjo & drink some Pearl. Bar-b-q some opossum and watch cousin Vernon propose to our cousin Tina-Jo on Springer (I think they're cousins. We all call Mamma, "Mamma", but she says we're cousins. Our daddies are all different looking but all have the same last name).

:pokey::boozer::firedev:

bolsout,
I'll give you a 1/4 credit for your Marine father. Dave might have served with your dad...he's awful salty. You dad might have yelled at me in boot camp, in San Diego. It's a small world & you just never know. Unless you're in your 50's then it's possible.

Dave,

That's like saying it's my serve. It's really your serve - you should be waving the flag about how many people want ABS! It's right up there with door locks and radios!

I'll throw a curve and be serious. The thread on the Grail Trail (serious business) seemed to keep steering towards a Gen 5 that had to be leather/GPS/Bluetooth/iPod/interior enhanced and to my feeble brain, that is a death wish. The first car had A/C as an option and still seemed to sell fine. Given the economy, Fiat ownership and the aftereffects of bankruptcy, now doesn't seem the time to fill the Viper with enticing add-ons nor try to break into the higher end luxo-sporty cars. Having everything listed above as just an option isn't practical either because SRT has to design and include it, whether you opt to order it or not. My personal vote would be to stay inside the original concept of a bare bones, minimalist race car-ish vehicle that is street legal. Re-establish the connection with the pickup-driving, beer drinking, I-love-USA, hard-working guy. Except for the last part, that includes you, Dave. I probably will spoil the voting somewhat, but for all you voters past #39, it's anonymous until Leslie tells me who you are. But the results so far seem pretty clear - a Viper with ABS, A/C, and power will sell fine. (This is for you, Dave: I can go for cruise control because it leads to more daily driving.) All the other features are nice, but not necessary.

And I expect 200 voters this time. The DD poll was practice.

Your serve.

AC and radio should have been seperate options. I only turn on the AC occasionally to keep it working once in a while. I drive ******* whenever possible. AC adds weight and is a parasitic drain on the engine and I can go without it up here but it should be an option for those in the sun belt.

I voted for radio and AC. If they were split, I would've only voted for radio. I can live without everything else on that list. Thats a good thing since I am a Gen 1 guy and have no choice :D I know some of you guys like to hear the sound of the V10 vs. radio. I'm not one of you. The voices in my head are way too loud if I can't drowned them out with some Nickelback.

If there was NO options I'd be OK with that as I'm capable of adding my own. Dodge said, "Race cars don't need cup holders and cruise control." Unfotunately, Canadian politicians dislike racetracks and they're jealous of anyone (except themselves) enjoying life and having skills other than BSing so we don't have many racetracks. The racetracks we do have are under attack because cities want the valuable property to charge more taxes, etc. etc.

I haven't added cruise control because that would require TC to be safe (Viper's are too powerful and a lot of idiots would turn on cruise in the rain and die/crash). I did add a built-in radar detector though and that serves the same purpose - doesn't it?

I've added a better stereo system because I need an emergency cell phone and it's against the law to talk on the phone if you have to hold it. I also like my supercharger, headers, better exhaust, lightweight titanium rear axles (JonB), and Roe Racing's 14" lightweigh brakes. I would like to see a 1,000rwhp option with electronic boost control however.

Since I drive several cars during the year (4-6) I like the Garmin Nuvi nav sysytem I bought as it swiches cars with me and when I pay the $75 to update the maps/program, I only have to pay ONCE.

I like my portable Sirius Sat radio as it switches between those cars and it only costs me $15 per month instead of $90. I also like that my portable shows me Artist and song title.

MY Tire Pressure and Temperature Monitor System delivers pressure and temperature of each tire and shows me which tire may be a problem - much better than stock (and about 1/8 the price).

As I said, I'd prefer the big hp as an option, HD parts as an option, but acessories, electronics and luxuries can be added.

Ted
