that show is the poorest attempt a clone of another show I have ever seen. I am so glad that my cable provider started carrying BBC America so that I can watch the real THING.

I can't stand watching the show. The hosts are annoying as hell and have no personalities, they are just trying to be like the UK version but failing miserably.

The only good thing about it is the ACR being the top of the leaderboard :p

I saw it... Putty from Seinfeld bested the top celebrity lap time in the Suzuki and then they showed a red Gen1 RT/10 that he owned. He said he didn't want to be "that guy" with a mid-life crisis driving around with his head sticking up over the top of the windshield. They all chuckled and started drooling over a picture of a black 69 Charger R/T that he replaced the Viper with.

USA Top Gear will be Tanner's third show to be yanked off the air no doubt.

I know I am in the minority here, but I enjoy Top Gear USA. I have yet to see this week's episode (still trying to play catch up on my DVR from last week). How could people not find last weeks episode hilarious with the hill starts of the semi's, hitting a car with one of the semi trailers and the fireworks going off in another trailer! My wife, a friend that was over at the time and I were busting up. Oh well can't make everyone happy.

It just amazes me that these knuckleheads would question that a Viper is a real car when it sits on top of their leader board and in reality every other American Sports car is a street car that you can race while the Viper has always been a race car that you can drive on the street. So what is genuine then ?

I like the show, it is possibly my favorite car show. Is it cutting edge? Nope, Is it informative? Nope, Is it high end quality programming? Really? But... Is it entertaining? You Bet! The fireworks was obviously staged, if I was on the highway with those fireworks going off I would have been pissed, if that was my car that got crushed as they came around the corner I would have lost my mind, but still it is entertaining.

Last night even with Ruledge driving the Challenger, (the worst driver there) they made the Challenger look better than the rest.

I mean really... Tanner tapes rubber landscape edging to the front of a new Camaro to run on a Nascar track... Or racing over and around the humps at an old drive in movie theatre:dunno: They should have stuck with Battle of the Supercars... At least it was based on realistic comparisons and it was fun to watch Paul Tracy diss Tanner... Bring back Paul Tracy at the very least...

Clarkson was right - Top Gear cannot survive an advertising
based network setup. In the UK they can trash talk any car
they want with minimum blow-back, but could you imagine if
they said the Ford in the pickup episode was junk? Hell, H2
would be out of business. I am only a fan of the original
because the UK three actually seem like friends hanging out
talking about what they love (cars.) I'm tolerant of the staging
because it (usually) tends to have a subtle point behind the
stupidity. TG.USA lacks both of these traits in spades.

72hemi - the US episodes are completely staged, top to bottom.
They can claim what they want, but if those guys rolled onto a
highway without proper training in a semi they would be in jail
today. DOT does not have a sense of humor. Also there is no
way a TV insurance company would have allowed it - this is
the same insurance company that denied mythbusters to blow a
car off a runway with a 747 because "the plane might get
damaged." They may not have driven before, but they certainly
spent time behind the wheel before the cameras rolled.

I agree with nighthawk - it might have had a chance if the hosts
were a bit more believable, if the stunts were a bit more
intellectual, or if anyone on that show had the first clue about
automotive journalism. But without these, and the inability to
truly critique a sponsors product its doomed to fail. I watch
it on reruns, but I am certainly not going to cry when it gets
axed.

Eh, it was probably a lame attempt at humor. The first episode (and first segment) the US show had was about how awesome the viper is and what a shame it was that the Gen V would not be as raw or unforgiving. Then they sent an ACR around their test track and basically said afterward "good luck beating it".

The US show still *****, but I doubt they hate the viper.

Yep, that's it. Great minds think alike.

The helicopter thing is way too staged, but it was at least entertaining to watch a viper be put through its paces.

I like Tanner but the other two are a complete mystery to me how they got the job. They are truly awful. As for the rest of the show it doesn't hold a candle to the original. Its just another failed attempt at making an American car show. I don't understand why the producers of these things don't talk to some real car guys and try to come up with something better.

Well, like I've said on here before, just about anybody & everybody I talked to when I was looking to get another sports car always talked bad about Vipers when I asked them. I don't know why but nobody ever had anything good to say about them, well other than they're fast. Now I also must say most of them were either Porsche enthusiasts or Chevy guys!

Just realized that the 2nd top gear video in post #16 was in reverse!! Was trying to figure out how many right-hand drive ACR's were produced! LOL

I saw it..... in fact this was the first time watching this show and after my wife and I looked at each other after the nerd said that, it will be my last time watching it....Even my wife asked what that was all about and she usually would care less about stuff like this. How dissapointing.

Top Gear USA *****!

Who watches the piece of crap anyway?!

The car show on SPEED was what Top Gear USA should have been in the first place.

But really, none of them are as good as the original Top Gear.

They taped the landscaping rubber to the Camaro to disqualify it so it would not be shown up by the Challenger.

The show is horrible.. I like seeing the cars running hard and in unique environments, but the show hosts are just too bad to stand. I respect Tanner's driving abilities, and I think he should just stick with driving. On the other hand, I can watch re-runs of Top Gear UK all day long.. and have!

Still watching BBC for good reason. USA needs to get creative and put their own twist on it. Until then, it will probably remain horrible.

Too staged and no charisma. Battle of the supercars was much better
