I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m very excited and can’t wait to see the Gen V kick some butt in the ALMS. When is the first race? www.alms.com

Dear Glen,

The lineup of drivers is gonna make for a very highly skilled and fast team.....I'm expecting a LOT of weight to be forced upon the Vipers to keep them from embarassing the Corvettes.

Kuno Wittmer
Mark Goossens
Ryan Hunter-Rhey
Dominic Farnbacher

I hope the Viper is dominant like it was back in 1997-2000.

Regards,
Aaron

I'm sure it will destroy if they don't handicap too badly.

Thank-you also for helping straighten out the proper spelling of their names. I know the careers of all but Mark Goossens, but did a search on him and I know he's gonna be fast quickly!

Aaron

Id love to see the return of a Dominant factory backed team a la the late 90's early 00. Id love to see the new GTSR in the old Oreca red/white combo and the original red/white/blue scheme. I loved the red/white Oreca the best. It just suited those sinsiter looking original GTSR's...

I wouldnt expect them to be dominant right away. Its going to be a learning curve with the obvious restrictors, smaller tires etc they are going to shackle it with as usual. I cant wait to see these beasts on any track but especially Le Mans.

I'm excited as well. Having seen the GTSR last week, it's wicked, simply wicked! My concern, however, is that it will be running with restrictor plates producing less than 500hp. It just doesn't seem fair to me but Ralph and the team aren't showing any concerns over the handicap. Just goes to show that even years later LeMans still can't get over the shear and utter ********** from the last GTSR. I just wish the new GTSR can run unrestricted and let the world see it's fullest potential on the track.

From feedback from racers have always said that the endurance qualities of Vipers have been a tremendous advantage for them. They seem to just go and go. While others, less robust designs are constantly in the pits for repairs, their Vipers are still circleing the track.

Viper parts tend to last longer under race conditions, and cost less to replace when necessary. The Viper design is pretty straight forward, and drivers are comfortable and confident on the track.

When Vipers ran LeMans before they not only won their class, but often won overall against some far faster cars, that did not last.

As with you, I am excited to see Vipers back on the world racing stage. Even Hero's need Hero's : >)

They restrict horsepower, but not torque:{) While other cars are getting into their powerbands, the GTS-R will be accelerating!

I would'nt expect too much from the first year of competition. It's a totally new car and these things take a while to fully develop and sort.
That said, when they do get things sorted out I'm sure the Gen V will kick ass, provided ALMS is fair about the weight penalty.

Tons of torque and not having to live at 9000 rpm for 24 hours will help the Viper dominate. Like you said it is incredibly resilient and we all know that torque wins races. :D I so badly want to be at the first event to cheer these guys on what an experience it will be to see the Viper back on the world stage! Good luck SRT you have assembled an awesome group of racers to represent the Viper nation.

What I want is for the Vetts and the Vipers to be become so strong from competing with each other that the cry baby BMWs go home. The BMWs have been operating under an aero advantage that was just given the other cars this year. The BMWs still are able to run a race front suspension as their street suspension can't handle a race track! While I'm at it, keep the AMs at home too with their, if you won't change the rules so I can win, I won't come.

I'd like to see the first four places at LeMans covered with Vetts and Vipers!!!

Don't underestimate the capabilities of the Riley people running the Vipers. It seems that they had a hand in the development of the race car. If I read the announcement right, what Riley wanted, Viper became! The Riley team knows what it takes to win.

By the By, the Europeans have a reall Viper fan base. They too will be glad to see the return of the Viper.

The interesting competition is between Ferrari and Viper. No matter who wins, FIAT wins!

Well Ile be at Le Mans in June with My Viper :D ........And the Le Mans Classic in July ;) would be great to see the new car running!

That's awesome that you'll bring your Viper to Le Mans. Of all the cars I see there every year, the Viper always stands out and is respected by the fans. They BELONG at Le Mans!

At the pre-public G5 unvailing "Gala" i was blown away by the surprise of the new racecar.:jawdrop:
When i first got there i assumed the "other" car under the blanket was just a diff version. Like one Coupe, one Vert or something.

That night i woke up around 3am and my heart was racing thinking about the Viper competing again in LeMans as well as all the other awesomeness that was experienced at the Gala/unveil.:headbang:
