This is something I had planned around november last year but finally got around to doing it. This idea came from forza motorsport 8. A game which i havent played cause turn10 ***** but i watched videos of people using the viper in game and i noticed something. The gauges are wrong. Theyre black with white illuminated lettering. Turn10 cant do anything right, but that made me think "i know there's bulbs under the gauges what if the numbers were translucent?" So curiosity got the better of me and I bought spare cluster and vertical pod and took the gauge faces out which are just thin polycarbonate sheets and contacted Brice at US Speedo in Michigan and asked him if i sent him my gauge faces could he make me a one off product to test which of course they like money so he said yes. I had a few sets made White with translucent lettering, black with translucent lettering, and black with white lettering. In forza the housing is black to i painted the spare housing black to compare with the white one. This is what i came up with. I tried them with the oe bulbs and tried 2 different led bulbs in oe housings from amazon. One bulb is frosted over and the other bulb had 3 diodes on it hoping to fill the dim spots. The worst dim spots are on the white gauges around the odometer screen at 0mph and 220mph, but there is also a dim spot on 3k and 6k because of the placement of the bulbs. There just aren't enough bulbs. The mph numbers are half over the housing for the odo screen so it didn't really work but with black it wasn't as noticeable. I only looked at these in my garage under my lights and in the dark. My phone is old and ***** in the dark so the lights look blown out but not in person. I took all the pictures at full brightness but they do dim incrementally. The white housing bounces light better of course. The next thing i want to do is replace the needles with some kinda fiber optic that will absorb light even if its not much. With the white housing the needles are more noticeable but with black its a little less. All in the name of experimentation I really wanted to see if it could be done. So this is where I'm at ‍♂️. I can only add 5 photos so all my others are in the Google drive. When I get some needles I'll add those there. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vIClejspyxfV1CfB3O5DCzP71L99FefI

I actually kind of like it. Little bit of glare on the housings, but probably not that noticeable if you're looking straight at it.

Yea it's not too bad in person but also my phone camera is old so the lights really look blown out. But with the white housing it bounces the light more and helps light the needles up. I'm not sure I'll find a non invasive way to backlight them up like the ram srt10.

Threw it all back together. Not everyones cuppa tea but I think it came out neat. I have a spare set of gauge faces I'm going to use on anoter spare set of clusters. I'll use those to figure out how to illuminate the needles. But before then I got bushings and a diff to change.

I do like white a bit better, but props to you and lots of respect for taking the time and effort to pursue this project. It's very well executed.

All in the name of science. Biggest issue with 0 and 220 on mph gauge is the oco screen. If it was a little shorter there wouldn't be a lighting issue there. I've always noticed it with the original cluster light doesn't really get in there and that's why
