I've ordered Viper oil filters many times online. This one looks different (image 4230). The information is on a label attached to the filter, not printed on the filter. Came in a box marked properly, but it's different. Box is marked 05037836ab -001.

I've seen this pop up multiple times in different Facebook groups - general consensus is that it's legit and likely a supplier change.

So they took the same filter used on a bunch of different cars both mopar and non mopar and stuck a paper label that 10x the cost.

I have used the K&N filter on both of my GTS's. Is there an advantage to using oem?

Depends on the Anti-Drainback Valve pressure spec. The HASTINGS / BALDWIN LF142 is 8 PSID By-Pass Valve. I would have to look up others.

@GTS Dean tracks his car a lot and uses WIX (if I remember correctly). Others use Mobil 1 branded filters.

Had a Gen 1 for 10 years and a Gen 2 for 22 years. Used nothing but Amsoil filters and have never had any issues.

So I use Wix and Mobil 1. the Mobil 1 M1-204 has roughly the same Bypass Valve Value. The Viper Filters are a complete ripoff in my opinion. And, according to Dan, he doesn't like what he see's inside when he opens up a Viper Filter..

Hey guys, as you know the main filter back in the day was Purolator for the gen 1. When the Gen 2 came along, we started using the wix filter which everybody uses the wix filter. From my understanding is the one who made the filter for the Dodge Viper that has Dodge Viper. It's a SRT. So whether you use wix whether you use Mobil one? I know a lot of people like mobile one. They've been using mobile one for years. I prefer the wix XP and I have personally compared the filters. They're they're exactly the same. I would say this. I do like the SRT because it says Viper on it. You want one? I would say see if you can find a clothes out because actually RockAuto had some and I purchased all they had which was about 20. I think I have 14 left but the best filter for the Viper to me in my opinion is the wix XP

So what ??? I had my viper for 26 years, been on the forum for as long that I have owned my Viper and never heard of an engine problem because of the filter
Amsoil is very good at making people believe that their products are better than anything else
