I have been ordering the goodies at MGW since I bought my car last month. I recently had some problems with my First Strike shift knob. I let the backyard mechanic in me have a go at it and kinda butchered the part in my efforts and did not fix it either. I sent the part back to George to look...
Just received a 2 I.D. plate delivery(they are gorgeous), but the year was wrong. Called Randy on a Saturday and he just said keep it and another is on the way. Also had a great conversation about Viper quirks. Fantastic products and they stand behind their work. If only more businesses were run...
I picked up mine from a guy "mybidishigherthanyours" on e-bay. It is a reprint of the shop manual, good quality, and $60 as opposed to the $120+ through dealer sources. He does Paypal, too. It has saved me SO much time and frustration and makes garage time more fun.
Re: Damn Door Won\'t Stay Open!!!!
I'm cheap too, so to do the work myself and just be out the price of the hinge sounds like the plan. You guys rock!!
Damn Door Won\'t Stay Open!!!!
Hey guys, what gives with my driver's side door that won't lock open like the passenger's side? Does anyone else have this problem? Sure makes it hard to do work inside the car with the door hitting you in the shins. Is there a spring lockout or something inside...
This post has turned into a forum for "good Cop" behavior! Even though, I am sure, there are plenty of opposite stories about "the man" coming down hard on us, it is enlightening to know there are just as many cool ones that may happen to be car nutz like us as well.
There is an illustrated manual on this site under the "How to" section up top. It is tricky with the stock car jack and you should take great care to make sure the car is on level ground. You jack from the driver's side jack point just behind the front wheel, get it up high so you can slide...
I should know better than this, but I got myself in a scary situation yesterday. I was cruising home on the 95 N and was doing around 78mph in 65 zone passing slower cars and minding my own business. I noticed a car coming up fast in my rear view ( I always scan for this) and pull into the slow...
Street Cars (not really knowing the abilities of the track cars)
Porsche Turbo
Viper ACR
Mercedes SL55
Ferrari 360?
Vette tri-power
Any mods done to your ACR or is it bone stock? Depending on the year, the 4 wheel drive and rear engine layout of the Turbo always make it a consistant winner in...
OK, you scared me a little with the radiator concern. I compromised by cutting a foot wide hole on the shroud cover and left the edge nearest the radiator attached. I bent it downward to form a mini-air dam that should allow cooler air from the grill to flow into the intake without robbing too...
Alright, maybe this is obvious to the more experienced peanut gallery out there, but I took a long hard study of both the NACA Duct area as well as all related posts to the subject of cutting out the rain baffle. Upon closer inspection, I found that there is a a plastic shroud cover over the top...
I have decided to yank the cats altogether, and intall cat sims after getting my emissions test done. I will probably have them use clamps in case I need the cats for next year's registration. I am debating still on whether to keep the stock resonators or not. May end up being too raw for even...
O.K., I had the rear (Stratus issue) muffler yanked and 2.5" straight pipes installed with cannon sized 4" double walled tips. The work was top notch by Mark and the guys at Performance Muffler here in Vegas.
Sound is a little better, louder and with more rasp and pop than stock. Still not...
Congratulations! You and I are running in the same paths. I just sold my 2002 Blue ZO6 for a race yellow '01 GTS I had shipped blind from Minesota last week. Mine had 6K miles on it and is cherry. So much more fun to drive than the Vette, even to Home Depot. Lots more attention, though, which...
Did the burping procedure outlined on this site. The instructions suggest continuing squeezing the radaiator hose until there are no more bubbles visible coming from the upper surge tank.
After a good hour of squeezing and refilling, I still had bubbles!?! Is there air being drawn in through...
I went with a simpler suggestion of attacking the weather stripping. I used a utility knife to cut out the center section of the rear hood stripping, just over the block and headers since there are no exposed electronics here.
I also cut around 2" of the hood pad out to just past the recess to...
Thanks for the great feedback, guys. I will try the weather stripping method before cutting anything. I will burp the system and do the fan, coolant and maybe the thermostat. The weather is starting to cool off here, so maybe I will be fine for now.
