    My new Viper beater...

Now that I have your attention :D, I picked up a Viper beater for a fraction of the cost. Only problem now is that my Viper feels slow! 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.

Viper Dealers in the MD/DC/VA area?

I will travel if I have to. I seem to be getting the shaft from Ourisman Dodge in Chantilly, which is the closest Dodge dealer to me. I may have to take the car somewhere else to get the transmission fixed, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, - ANthony

What do we know about the factory car cover?

Is it waterproof/breatheable? I ask because my garage in my condo complex tends to get damp, the floor, walls, ceiling all get covered in dew, as do the cars. This made its way under the cover on the Viper. If the cover isn't breatheable, then it's probably not good to leave it on with...

    Insurance

So Progressive just doubled my rate for six months of insurance on the Viper, from $700 to $1400. This is ridiculous and I am going to switch. My motorcycle is insured with Foremost, which is partnered with Farmers, so I will get a discount if I insure my cars with them as well. However...

Quite a few Vipers at SEMA

I guess twin turbocharging the Viper is the cool thing to do now, as there were a few vendors on display with TT kits for the Viper. KW had an ACR at their booth, and they are working on a kit that will raise and lower the front of the car hydraulicly from inside the car with a switch, so the...

    Changing all the fluids...

Is there a write up about this, or when I do it this weekend should I go ahead and take pictures and do a write up? Also, my tech at the dealer said I neededa posi-additive for the rear differential fluid - is this correct? Manual just states castrol syntorque for the tranny and diff...

    Need a new window regulator...

Well, after taking the car into the dealer, the drivers side window regulator is half broken. I remember reading on here that this was a problem on the 2003 Vipers. One of the cables or guides for the cable is broken, I'm not exactly sure. I was told there was no way to fix this (I fixed...

    Mobil1 10w30 Used Oil Analysis

This should be fun :) Here are the results from my UOA on M1 10w30 that was used in my Viper for roughly two years, but only 2500 miles. The previous owner figured an extended drain would be OK since the car was not driven very much. The main area that this affected was the TAN (Total Acid...

    Went autocrossing this morning...

I was debating whether to take the S5, or have some fun with the Viper. I figured I needed to see just how bad these tires are so I could compare them with the PS2's on the '08 Viper I drove a day earlier. So I went with a friend to the BMW-CCA autocross in Maryland, and entered in their...

Did a few laps at Pocono in an '08 Viper...

I was at the IMPA test days at Pocono this week, and Chrysler brought out a 2008 Viper in dark red with silver racing stripes. Unfortunately it was the convertible, as I was hoping for the ACR. Oh well! It was my first time driving a 4th gen, and there are some good improvements. The...

    Installed: Kicker KS600 6.5" Speakers

Well, I saw a thread on here asking about speakers, and then I got the bug to install new speakers myself. 30 minutes and $100 later, I have new speakers! :D Kicker KS600 - $129.99 (Crutchfield). I picked these up locally from Circuit City for $106.99. Specs on the Kicker KS600's...

    3rd gear whine

I noticed today when I was driving with my top up that in third gear, if I take it past 2k RPM, especially above 3k, when I let off the gas I get a very audible whine. It sounded like an elecctrical whine at first, so I shut off the radio, but it was still there. Put the clutch in and it goes...

Clunking from the rear when going over bumps?

It seems like it's the convertible top or something similar, but I hear a clunking coming from the right rear of the car when I go over bumps. The previous owner took the car into the dealer for this and the report said they found it to be normal for the convertibles. Can anyone confirm...

    186 miles on 15.6 gallons...

Which averages out to a very respectable and eco-friendly 11.9 MPG. :D The car now has 3,150 miles on it, and I'm hoping by 5,000 miles the engine will be fully broken in and hopefully gas mileage will somewhat increase. I usually do the 1-4 shift and I rarely take the car past 2,000 RPM, so...

    Window Woes

So, as I mentioned before, I am having some issues with my drivers side window. It makes a 'popping' sound when at the extreme bottom of the window travel. If you don't use the auto down and you stop the window before it hits bottom, it doesn't make any noise. That is what I've been doing for...

    Removing the shift lockout?

Is this something that is easily done? I like to shift 1-3-5 and it won't let me do that unless I take it above 2k RPM in 1st gear. I understand this is how they get around the gas guzzler tax, but I don't like it. :D Thanks...

Tear in the carpet on the passenger side?

I noticed some heat shielding reflecting through the carpet, and it looks like the carpet is torn on the seam at the bottom of the floor board: Is this just how it is, or is mine torn? I figure I can pull back the carpet and just put a black patch on the back of it and no one would ever...

    Changed the oil...

And she sounds a lot better now. I don't think she enjoyed being on the same oil for two years, although it was only 2500 miles. Anyway, the tools you'll need: 3/8" Torque Wrench Funnel Oil Filter Strap Wrench 15-Quart Drain Pan 16mm Socket/16mm Box Wrench Brake Cleaner Shop/Paper...

    0w40 or 10w30?

My oil cap says 10w30, but the viper tech said 0w40. Mobil1 oil is crap, so I was more inclined to do 10w30 since there is a wider selection of oils in that weight. I wouldn't mind using a heavier weight as the engine sure has a lot of valve noise and the heavier oil should help quiet that...

    Picked her up yesterday...

2003 SRT-10, 2800 miles, perfect condition. The car is essentially "as new". I have put 140 miles on the car since yesterday, and I've burned through 3/4th of the tank. I picked it up with just over 3/4th's a tank, and now it's on empty. Ouch! I wasn't even pushing...

Possibly picking up an 03 SRT... advice please

So I found a 2003 SRT-10 with 2800 miles on it for about $45,000. Silver on black, no stripes. The car is in as new condition, except for a small curb mark on one of the wheels. Whatever recalls there are have been done, and the first service was done. It is due for an oil change though...
