0505 code

I cleared this and then it came back, (idle system malfuction) anybody know what it might be or how to fix it.

Idle air controller motor circuits...a "short" or "open" circuit detected...might clean contacts, try again.

I checked the service manual, found above which refers to generic scan codes....noting that the "55" code pertains to the flashing MIL code system and does indeed mean "completion" of the fault codes that one can generate on early GenII's by turning key on-off-on-off-on-off-on (to run position, NOT start position) for three cycles within a few seconds, then counting the times that the "check engine" light flashes. For a cross check of the code, a scan tool code of "0505" should show a MIL code of "25". Hope this helps.

In addition to cleaning contacts, might want to carefully clean IAC inlet at air box. Can't really tell you much about IAC motor...but it seems to me that someone posted about fixing its servo once for a 0505 code after wiring proved to be OK. Next step for ME would be Viper Tech.

What seems to be fixing this problem is actually replacing the PCM. Do you happen to have a Roe S/C?

Larry, I'm ASSUMING that you mean the above fix to be considered AFTER IAC circuits/motor are determined to be functioning properly...am I wrong ??
