VEGASVIPER- I am currently developing a system. Should be available by summer if everything comes together.

I think 1TONY1 has come up with a rather "interesting" solution for intercooling a Roe charger. Maybe he will chime in......

Hmm... I wonder how close his solution is to mine? I will spill my idea via PM if anyone wants to know... just dont want to post it yet.

The simplest is to run a much bigger water tank and inject over the rpm point that will generate heat. If that happens to be a cruise rpm - you'll need up to a 5 gallon tank if you give it WOT blasts as well... but it is simpler than having a custom intercooled jacketed intake manifold specially cast.

Hi Steve,

At 5 to 7 psi, a charge cooler isn't really necessary with the Autorotor compressor and will not give you much of a change at 5psi. Are you looking to cool the charge to increase the boost / power, or to increase timing advance / power? With the 91 octane that is available in Vegas, your performance numbers will be limited either way. If you get the octane up to 93 or higher, you can run more boost and or timing accordingly.

Water injection does work and it can be controlled by the VEC2 output wire if you want to try it. go to the outputs page of the software and click on the PWM output tab. You can create a curve that turns on a relay or an actual injector for the water injection.

Otherwise, now that we're in the new shop and 98% setup, it won't be long until we finish up the intercooler system built into the manifold base. It will keep the air cooler in cruise an boost. Other folks like Todd and Tony have some neat setups too.

Regards,
Sean

As you know Sean, i have the cast pistons. My thinking is that if i cool the charge then it would be safer to increase boost to 7psi

Ok, now I remember. New motor in erlier chassis.
Are you able to run higher than 91 octane? If so, you could bump the boost a little and use water injection to keep her safe.

Sean

Hey guys,
I was wondering what everyone was going to do. You would almost have to put the cooler under the blower to show any real gains. You need to cool the heated air after it has gone through the blower. If you would use a air to air before to cool the incoming air with a nitrous spray bar that would drop the temp without raising cylinder pressure...on centrifugal supercharger a 35-50 shot will lower temps and pick up 40 - 75 horsepower. If you go under the blower would you be better off with a system that runs off of freon like some of the eaton set ups or use coolant? If you use coolant you have to run a completely different supply and pump to keep the coolant temps down to show a good gain. Then you are designing a new intake to still have clearance for the hood with issues of possible leakage into the lower intake. At this point I think water or alcohol injection is the best option and then nitrous for various reasons. I am curious to see and here everyones ideas...the more power the better.

Joe

Joe, don't know if you saw Sean's post above, but he's already designed and has a prototype of an intercooler built in to the manifold base. He's about to finish it up and start testing it. It seems to me it would make a lot more sense to wait and see what he comes up with and go from there rather than start from square 1, but maybe that's because I'm not capable of starting from square 1.
