Try your wife's foam finger nail sander.It's a little fine sandpaper covered foam block maybe 1" by 3". Worked great. You did not hear this from me.

same thing, but I use a light sandpaper block and wd40.....

An eraser works.
The pink pencil erasers or the white ink erasers will work also

I use wadding polish -- you can get it at any hardware store.

And how often do you guys do this? I was under the impression the surface will quickly turn color unless you coat it with something.

I'm not married, so I just used a standard green Scotch brite pad, and accomplished the same thing.

I use a light abrasive rubbing only the top edge.Make sure not to get on the paint and rinse well.
