How do you clear the check engine codes on a 95?

Why not get an OBDII scanner that's backwards compatible. Then you can use it on your newer vehicles as well.

Since it is a 95 you can first check the code by turning the key on and off 3 times. This will give ya the check engine diagnostic code. You simply count the number of flashes in-between the pauses. One of the nice things about the Gen I vipers, not available on the Gen II's.

If you have a service manual you can find out what the codes are in it, or usually a call a local Dodge dealer and ask someone in the service department.

To reset the code, you can unhook the + on the battery behind the rear wheel. Don't bother trying to unhook the remote post upfront as the PCM still keeps the code, or at least this is what I found.

Also if you simply get a 55 that means there are no more codes, that will either be all you get or the last code you get.

I thought that disconnecting the power would do it. I didn't realize that you couldn't do it from the remote disconnect.

Disconnecting the battery terminal not only clears the code, it resets everything the PCM has learned.
