My 2003 diesel truck is 1320 degrees at 30 lbs of boost, the thermometer broke at 120 degrees and spewed mercury every, when I put it on the Viper manifold. Boy is the wife ********** at you JDAWG for me making a environmental nightmare of our garage.

A normally aspirated Viper should be around 900-1100 degrees.

That should be fine. o2 sensors are usually underrated. I run the Bosch sensor in my wideband in my RX7 and the temps under boost get as high as 1600 degrees.

The Bosch 02 sensor your referring to is sensitive to extreme heat. However, highest EGT's are measured right at the exhaust flange exiting the head. Subsequently, the flange is not the place you would locate the 02 sensor.
Placement of the sensor would be further downstream where chambered exhaust pulses are exiting at a lower temperature.
If your going to mount the 02 sensor relatively close to the collector this is a method I would highly recommend. Get yourself a thin sheet of aluminum approximately .080 thick, 2"x2" or 3"x3" in size. Drill a hole the center of the sheet the circumference of the OD thread of the 02 sensor. Mount the sensor through the aluminum sheet and screw the sensor into the exhaust ****. The aluminum sheet works as a heat sink to dissipate much of the heat.
