Does anyone know where the future VOI events are planned to be located? I was thinking about attending this year, but I've decided it's just too far to drag the car all that way. Any plans to come east?

You will still want to go, so do what 1/2 of all the attendees do...........come without your car. There is still a ton to do, friends to hang out with, new friends to make, and virtually everyone from Europe and Japan come without their cars. You need to be there and experience the comraderie and the spirit of the occassion. I have gone 6 times and only taken my car once ----- wouldn't trade any of them, had a fantastic time at every VOI !!

The best trip we've ever been on was 10 days we took to VOI in Vegas. 4000 miles round trip. Try to hook up with a caravan. You won't regret it.

I'm in the same boat. Too far to take the car and I know I'd just be torturing myself if I went w/o it.

Discounts are being worked on for transport companies that will hopefully help those VCA members coming from the east to VOI.

VOI only happen about once every one and a half to two years and the last one was in Detroit.

We hope you can join us in Salt Lake City.

Thanks guys, but I kind of feel the same way MYGTS does. I do plan on attending at least one at some point in the future, I'd just prefer to attend one someplace much closer to home.

Have any plans been made regarding where future events will be held?

Sneaky Pete,

I am in negotiations with several Carriers working on a Nationwide quote for transportation. We are looking to get our member's the best rate possible.

That said and to Bill's point, VOI is more than just having your car...It's about the people. I have been to only 2 VOI's, both times with out my car and had a blast!:D

This year will be no different!

Please don't let the pricing of transportation or having your car along sway your decision to attend, sign up today!

Stay tuned

I attended a "Tail of the Dragon" event last year with my ex in her car. I wished I had my car the entire time and told myself I would never do any event like that ever again without my own car.

Not all that many places that are appropriate for VOI's. Need a large hotel with banquet facilities, reasonably priced, and available for such a large group.

Need nearby track facilities for solom, road course, drags etc.

Good to be near a active VCA region with volunteers to help out.

Should have reasonably predictable weather. (seems to rain at every event.).

Each VOI has been a potential final VOI. Each year the powers to be look at the success of the current attendance and determine if there can be a business case made to have another.

So far, so good, but you should never count on their being another VOI that might be more convenient to you.

From what I have heard, this VOI is going to be one of the most reasonably priced, both for the event itself, and for the pretty high end lodging offerings.

The track is brand new, and designed for Vipers. Its a nice long horsepower track, not all bound up by tight curves more condusive to Minis and Miatas.

A special bonus has been arranged for this year, that will make it even better for those without a car. The Viperdays (NARRA) group will be having their door to door racing competition event at the same track at the same time. Everyone that wishes can watch that event for no extra charge. Seeing these top of the line Vipers, Competition Coupes, ACRs and ACR/X models thundering around the track may just give you that kick in the butt you have always wanted to get you more interested in the competition aspect of Vipers.
Plan in advance. Best fun is with your own Viper, still a blast without, and worst of all is sitting home reading about it on the computer and wishing you had made the effort.

Pretty sure no plans have been made for VOI's past this one.

I have driven to VOIs, had my Viper shipped to some, and gone without my Viper. Every one was a blast.

Can't believe that I'm going to say this, but if I'm going to Salt Lake City .... I'll be skiing at Snowbird or Alta

If the Chicago club wishes to host a VOI, the appropriate thing to do is make a formal presentation and business case to the VCA. This will go a long way in helping the site selection committee make their decision.

With no proposal, you are at the mercy of the winds.

Most everybody wants a VOI near them, but in reality, the club that offers the best package will get the strongest consideration.

Gotta make it happen guys.

I'd like to see it move around different parts of the country. Many folks will travel regardless of location, others wont. If it always takes place in the mid-west or on the west coast, many, many folks from the east coast will missing out... and vice versa. But keep in mind, the vast bulk of the US population is on the east coast. I would hope the selection committee would strongly take this under consideration in the future.

I for one wouldn't want an event to take place in my back yard as it's nice to get out and see new things. OTOH, spending 6 days traveling hardly sounds appealing. Looking at a US population density map, I'm not sure SLC would have been my first choice for a location to maximize turnout and convenience.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE SLC. It's a great place and i love to go skiing there. Then again, Hawaii is a great place too, but that doesn't make it a good location for such an event.

Just my useless 2 cents.

A lot goes into planning these things that i'm sure we will never know about. All I know is, it looks like we have a spectacular event planned for us. Can't wait!!!!

Sneaky pete....like your map, are you suggesting the next VOI @ Omaha ??!! Just about middle America.... deciding on a VOI takes a lot of planning and logistics to make it a great event, some cities like Vegas add some entertainment for people at night like the casinos and celebrity shows, I don't think Celine is in Omaha very soon, ( maybe some people even like Wayne Newton) so maybe Branson ?? but the track facilities, convention rooms at a good price, parking, a chance for a road tour, very good airport to get in and out of, etc.....it goes on for hours....I went to a VOI years ago at Disney World and I first thought it may be poor BUT it was one of the greatest that I ever attended...Beach Boys, great rooms and food, track (Sebring) even saw a shuttle launch go up in the air from the side of an interstate highway, when VOI's get messed up is when they try to piggy-back on another planned event like Daytona, Indy 500, Nascar event ??!! Rooms are impossible to get and very limited on freedom to do whatever...my $.02

Pete - Where are you located?

I know it seems far, but remember, regardless of where it is held SOMEONE has to drive.

Last VOI was Detroit. Was great for me. 6 hour drive. But those on the west coast, they had a long drive. So to even things out, this year it is out west. Maybe some folks were not able to go last round due to the east location, well they can be closer this year.

For me, I have a long drive to go to SLC. Am I upset it is held there? Not at all! It all works out! I know it would be unfair to ALWAYS have it on the east coast! Would it be better for me? Sure. But that is not fair to others either and we would eventually run out of good locations.

As for the prairies, yeah it could be held there. Then everyone would have to drive! :lmao::poke:

Guys, I'm not complaining about this years location. It's farther than I care to travel, so I'll pass on this one. It's not a big deal to me, there's always next time. This is why I am asking about FUTURE events.

As I said, I think it makes a lot of sense to move it around. With that in mind, one would think locations near the major population densities would be better suited and utilized. Obviously SLC has minimal population around it for hundreds and hundreds of miles, so it probably wouldn't have been a location I would have chosen. But, it is a beautiful location.

MB, I'm in CT. I don't mind driving a day to get to a location, but I have little interest in driving for days to attend such an event. But that's just me. Understandably, I wouldn't think to many folks from UT would be interested in traveling to CT for an event.

IF history had repeated itself, VOI would have been in Monterey this year. That would have been awesome for me! An hour and a half away. Detroit was just too far for me, but Salt Lake City is 12 hours driving time from me. That is certainly doable. My plans aren't firm but I hope to join the group for my first VOI. The group from here is breaking the drive up with a night stop over in Reno to stretch there legs so to speak and most likely their wallets as well. :)

Stop whining. Wherever it is, there are always people complaining it is to far away.

Will fly into Chicago and drive to SLC.

+6000 miles one way. :drive:
