I Finally got the trade deal I wanted for my '99 355F1 Spider. (Loved that car... but wanted to pull some dough out of it and getting a new Viper just seems SO LOGICAL! (I also feel more Patriotic now : )

2001 GTS Sapphire Blue / Black interior to arrive at my house around dinner time on Saturday..

Questions:

Where is the best place to go for service / ADD ON GOODIES! in Chicago suburbs?

I've read the break in stuff... good there... what about storing during cold months - how often should the Viper be run during the winter to keep gaskets from drying out ... etc?

Clutch stops.. I noticed there was quite a bit of clutch pedal travel in the Viper... I had the same deal with my 540i and I had a bud install a rubber "gromet" which removed about 1/3rd of the total clutch pedal distance (the clutch was fully engaged long before you pushed the pedal all the way in)... that and a short shifter made the 540i much more responsive... anyone do this with a Viper??

thanks

Vinnie

Search for the "Viper Tech" thread....several Chicago shops were posted.

Clutch linkage kit CHEAP. $25 Improves ratio of movement.

You now need:

Short Throw Shift Knob
Smoothe intake hoses
K+N Filters
Upgraded Floor mats or carpets
Color-splash harness pads.
Better ash tray / lighter

PartsRack (and almost any advertisor here) will provide tested products, competitive prices, and some will even provide comparative advice.

WELCOME to VCA MEMBERSHIP and Viper ownership.

Local "dealer" service:

Downers Grove Dodge- Talk to Jerry Jannick
Kohler Dodge (Naperville)- Talk to Don Sleik
McHennry Motors - Talk to Bob Deitric
Roanoke Motors (Big jobs)- John Gastman or Dave in service

SVSi is close, and they can do pretty much anything "special" you need done.

As for dealer service, remember that you have a special car that takes special care. Drive a little extra to get it the attention it needs. You wouldn't take your kid to a vet, or your dog to the Family doc. The dealers listed above have all done a good job in servicing VCA members. If they get over their heads, they also know to call down to Roanoke and that will generally get the problem resolved.
