Here\'s a detail write up on how to change your SRT-10 Exhaust with PICS!

This is Gene Waddel's 2006 SRT-10 Coupe. I decided to do the old "ab" write up on another how to project. Enjoy and hope it's helpful!

MODS, feel free to put this in illustrated upgrades if you wish!

Re: Here\'s a detail write up on how to change your SRT-10 Exhaust with PICS

Ab--great pics and how to

I feel my Viper is in very good and capable hands. No one not even the local Dodge dealership in my town or surrounding towns would do the work. They could not balance the tires much less alignment and change the rear gears to 3.55 and exhaust work. They said they did not have the tools or equipment to do the work on a viper.

Ab has gone beyond the call of duty-he and his brother met my wife and I in Etown about a 85 mile one way trip for him and drove my Viper back to his house and work garage. How many dealers or Viper mechanics would do this. He has kept me posted by phone ,email and now by pics on VCA.

He is a very honest man that you can fully trust with a Viper and takes care of your Viper like it was his own. He has all the tools and the know how to work on Vipers and all cars. I cant thank him enough for what he is doing for me and going out of his way to help me. Believe me he is very reasonable on his work.

Thanks AB

These are some of the things that are being done to my Viper

-Corsa track exhaust
-3.55 gears
-Lowering(more on this in a few days)
-Change all fluids
-Logo on the back side of hood(insulation pad) painted with heat resistant
paint
-Green low dust brake pads
-Tires high speed balanced and alignment.

He can install a SC --not now but maybe some time in the future.

Thanks Gene,

We will have to wait for winter on the other goodies!

I forgot to also mention this. Thanks to Chuck Tator on the advice on the small hard to reach nut. Now I know what you were talking about. I may have a simple fix for this but it requires a small hole inside the fenderwell maybe 1/4" wide.

AB,
Great job!!!
Wow, that's the way all directions should be, a step-by-step diagram with photos attached and a narrative to boot. Very informative, mistake free.
Thanks for the extra effort in sharing to benefit others.

Re: Here\'s a detail write up on how to change your SRT-10 Exhaust with PICS

Adam,

You should have included all the repeat on and off of the sills to try and get the tips positioned and then run through a heat cycle to insure the tips do not hit the opening in the sill or sit too far in or out to prevent damage to the paint. this part about doubles the actual time you spend.
Then after all that you need to disassemble the car again and tack weld the system in place to make sure it stays where you want it to.
:curse:

Mjorgenson.

I am working on reducing the heat and making the tip stay in place...plus it's at minimal cost.

I didn't remove thhe hinge cover, or take out the plate from under the X-over.

No reason for the extra work... IMHO

Theirs a lot that I dont know about Vipers but I am learning more every day thanks to VCA members.

Something I dont understand-what is the value of the factory cross over? Seems like the added weight and extra run of exhaust pipe would be a negative. Is it the tuning of the exhaust note so that it will not be as loud?

You always get a critic in these types of threads....LOL!

Hey Zorro...next time you TAKE THE TIME to do a write up.

No need to be an ass...if that was your intentions. If it was i have something you can kiss. :bonker:

I took it off to get pictures and also do a transmission fluid change.

Gene it's to help out with noise/sound/pressure. Alot of Gen II Vipers have them on the design with the rear exit pipes. Since the SRT-10 is similar except the pipes come out the side. As far weight savings goes without them maybe 10-15lbs I think. But don't take that advice from me...you may want to double check with Zorro above...he seems to be an expert. LOL! I am going to bed..it's late and I am grumpy. :D

Aren't you a sensitive bit@h.

Just because you took your time to illustrate your work doesn't mean we all have to agree with it, Signor DaVinci. :nono:

I mentioned that because for anyone working out of their garage on a car jack, it is a good deal of extra work for nothing. So in fact, I am being just helpful and not an ass, unlike you in your las post.

:usa: Cheers :usa:

Email ***** huh? Zorro, batman, speedy gonzales..or whatever superhero wanna be...looking back at some of your useless post you really never have anything really positive to say now do you? I really don't need your advice on working on these cars. You can go back to importing your cars like a good little boy...don't even get me started on here. If you don't like what I write....don't read it...simple enough for ya?

Soon! I had to order 5000 boots as a minimum buy to make the wires.

Also I thank my friend Doug Levin for his help in getting me some wires!

Just an FYI, the intake gasket is reusable, but you have to be real careful when removing it so you don't damage the O-rings. I will keep everyone posted.

Wow AB. You are really keeping busy. Hey if you do not own a Viper anymore, next best thing is to work on them. Hope the Lambo is doing well. Talk to you soon

Wow, you took your time to read my posts! I must have hit your ego there, lol.

When you post on these boards you are subject to criticism. YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DO NOT POST. :nono:

And zorro means FOX, which was my nickname when I used to race motorcycles in Spain, for being fast and hard to catch. But I am sure your ignorant self knew that... Superhero?? lol... :bonker:

Good job at trying to impress inexperienced people how to change an exhaust... what's next "ILLUSTRATED OIL CHANGE PROCEDURE"?? phu-lease...

Yes, I go back to my job and you do the same. Do not forget to wash your hands and brush your fingernails after working on the engines, grease monkey.... hahahaha :nana:

I am keeping the Lambo...that thing will be a beast when I am done. Lambo guys on the forums are few in the DIY'er compared to the Viper world, but I have hooked up with some real cool guys there that really know there stuff. It's good to know that there are people out there that are not afraid to tackle a car.
