Come on Frankster! We have to keep up our Golden State Image. Exercise,
Tofu, Organics, Prescripted Vitamins , Herb I.D. Cards and Movie Stars. How fast have you really
gone! I'm thinking. Hmmm?

6th gear, but I don't have stock gearing. I've changed out 5th and 6th (lowered them both) to make the car a true 6 speed. The car doesn't bog when shifting into 5th now, and the 5th and 6th ratios are much closer.

How do you do that? Im guessing you have to take the trans out.

The speedos lose accuracy for whatever reason north of 165mph or so. With that being said, I've been north of 200 a few times...per gps and a timing system. The speedo was buried at 220mph but I was only clocked at 205mph.

same here my gps was reeding 171mph speedo 167ish

I let off between 140/150 over the weekend.

To top out a mostly stock GTS, is it in 5th or 6th gear?

Methinks somewhere around 170-ish in the old RT. 140-150 in the new GTS.

140 is easy to do in these things and have had it up to a nice, smooth 140 a few dozen times. Per Road & Track the stock Gen.II GTSs top out around 192 so methinks the new car will go over 200. I'd like to be in the 200mph club but outside of the Mile I don't know where I can do that safely. My car doesn't have the balls to hit 200 in the Mile, so it'd have to be a longer course. Before anyone says "try the new toll roads!" remember my track record with Johnny Law.

I will say that the GTS vs the RT...the GTS isn't nearly as scary. Maybe it's naive of me to think that but it at least FEELS safer. The sidepipes and windnoise on the RT was deafening at any speed north of 70, so 140+ and it got intimidating. The Roe on the GTS plus having the ability to roll up the windows make triple digits an entirely different experience.

Answer...5th.

1fastviper, some guys around here had a local shop go thru their T-56's, beef them up, "micro polish" components AND change 5th and 6th gears to Aston Martin gears.

171 at Virginia International Raceway and 180 at Daytona International Raceway. Never drive it on the road. Would just end up getting a ticket! :p

So is it better/cheaper to just beef up my trans or get a already built one:dunno:

Nothing beyond double digits for me. I do not track it and driving at triple digit speeds on public roads is irresponsible and idiotic. I did not buy it because it can theoretically go fast.

Jason the GTS has a 4mph higher top speed because of the hatchback shape and "ducktail" on the rear. Much smoother shape and airflow. The GTS is structurally stronger as well which helps the 'feel' of the car. ... and the trunk is double the size of the RT.
