ipod in an 08 with no nav--possible or aftermarket upgrade

done alot of searching around on the forums for an answer to this question and cant seem to get a definitive ruling.

2 days until my car arrives----it is a factory no nav---rah?---is that a single cd or a 6 disc in dash changer?----regardless---I will not be happy without my ipod in my car. What are the options with that stereo?----have heard some horror stories about the rb1 and would rather not deal with it.
Would prefer to either live with factory stereo as long as I can use my ipod, or would like to put an aftermarket stereo with a screen/dvd playing capability/ and ipod connectivity ready to go.

Is it not the same head unit as the 06? My NAV or something or other works well with the IPOD adapter kit. Sounds great. Navigatin playlist and the like is about as useless as the NAV function on the head unit.
