Mopar bra don\'t fit right.
The top section has these adjustable straps, and the instructions say that you should remove one nut from the top outboard hood vent, and attach the strap there.
Well, if you do that, now you have a taut strap that doesn't allow the fender well rubber gasket to contact the hood anymore. The strap doesn't want to let the hood close, because the fender well hits the strap.
Good thing I didn't slam it hard.
On another note, the instructions are kinda goofy, like they were written in a foreign country. They list as needed tools some alcohol, but the procedures don't call for it anywhere. They also say you need a Phillips, but there is no need, or at least not on a 2001 GTS. And you DO need a straight screwdriver, but they don't list that. No big deal, but just another little reminder that maybe the people who produce this cover not only don't list needed things properly, but also don't have a clue that the straps conflict with the closing of the hood.
Having said all that, I also have to say that the one point of installation, that many people complain about, that turned out to be nothing at all for me, the stretching of the bra over the front end of the car. Maybe mine was made a little bigger, because its was easy to stretch over the front fascia. Go figure!
After doing a search to get some advice, its clear that the top section should be 86'd, in fact, the whole bra concept should be 86'd, unless you are just going to put it on for a day, and then remove it, but even then, only use the bottom half.
Note to self- Use the search function BEFORE buying anything for the Viper.
*edit* There is one more reason the bra keeps the hood from closing that I just noticed. The front lip of the hood tucks in behind the top edge of the front fascia. But the bra has these two little straps that are suppossed to attach to the hood stops. That creates an obstruction to the hood tucking in behind the top of the fascia. Does anyone test and review the products/techniques before unleashing them on an unsuspecting public? Sheesh.
