With the SRT 10, when putting on a new exhaust system, does one really need to change the cats and put on headers, or will just the pipes be the most power gain? I have heard that headers and cats don't add much? Does anyone have the rough break down of what pipes, pipes and cats, and pipes, cats and header systems would give you in power?

I use this car just for street drive, so really no high rpm use so wondering if I would really need to do the cats and headers if I just really want better, meaner sounding Viper.

Thank you!

You can just do the exhaust first as I did. if you possibly plan on doing headers and or cats later, get the corsa 3 inch track system.

Use the search function above. you can read for days about exhaust mods here.

a Cat back system is good for changing sound, if you pick up 10-12 hp thats about it. If you elimanate the crossover you will loose nearly 20 lbs of weight off the car and it will be cooler. Removing cats will also help cool the car down, remove weight(10-12 lbs) and you might pickup another 5 hp.

Headers are NOT a good bang for the buck on a mostly stock car( ie: just some bolt on mods, TT or S/C are another story if your looking for ultimate power and spending big bucks to get it). Headers at a $3,400-$4,000+ will only net maybe another 20hp over just a cat back and cat removal.

That is nearly 1/2 the price of a Paxton S/C set up that will take you from 430hp stock and add over 200hp on a basically stock motor! A friend of mine put a paxton on his nearly stock '03 (cats removed and mopar/borla exhaust) and is makeing 690 rwhp and 620 rwtq. If you do decide to do buy ANY parts call JonB at PartsRack www.partsrack.com he has The best prices and MOST knowledge!!!

Steve: We found the Corsa Track Exhaust added the most hp/was told by Chuck Tator and Sean Roe that headers would NOT add much gain (they did not, but we wanted them anyway) and we found that to be true....we also added flow-thru cat (does keep drivers' side cooler), and again, not much noticeable dyno hp results. We only street drive as well, and the Corsa system sounds AWESOME--we love it!!! :2tu: Good Luck on whatever you decide! :) ~juli~
