I know I must have read hundreds of posts about this ubiquitous problem, but I'd never noticed it on my own Viper. Last night, while at idle, I engaged the transmission (in neutral of course) and heard the "noise".

I think I've read that it's an innocuous sound typical of the T56 transmission.

Is that correct?

Thanks........

Commonly refered to as NGR - Neutral Gear Rattle, yes it's inherant to Vipers. Also Z-06 Corvettes. A change in tranny gear grease can help some, but most have subscribed to "nature of the beast"

I believe there is a TSB out on this. If you change the tranny fluid to a synthetic one it should help. Haven't tried it yet on mine but that's what I heard.

It could be the throw out bearing, if it just all of a sudden started to make noise, would suspect this may be the culprit.
