I bought my red '93 in March from a guy on Ebay for 33K with 42K miles. Since then, it has taken about $7K to get her all fixed up. When you buy, inspect the car carefully, especially the early years.
At the time I wasn't even looking for a Viper, but when I found one at such a good price I couldn't resist. There are mini vans that cost more now days.
