Yeah definitely did not do that. However it’s been working good for years now
I think there might still be some confusion on this. There are numerous gauge packs. Some are interchangeable, some are not:
2003 Main/Side, USA
2004-2006 Main, USA
2008-2010 Main, USA
2004-2010 Side, USA
All above types also have export counterparts.
If you put a 2003 Side into a later car, or a 2004+ side into a 2003, without changing the main cluster to match, you will usually end up with some range inconsistencies. Otherwise, it will *appear* to function properly.
Swapping both 2004 gauges into a 2003 will of course work exactly as it would in a 2004.
Basically, the "Face" of the gauge shows the scale, but the "Range/Position" is set by the main cluster. Sensor output is transmitted to the main cluster, which interprets and sends the needle position to the side cluster. So, in a 2003, 50PSI is a little past middle. On a 2004, thats dead middle. Swap the side cluster only on a 2003, and its now going to read about 65 due to the scale change. Change the main cluster only, and its going to read 40psi. Change them both and it reads 50.
