So, I was considering picking up the used Paxton thats for sale on this forum and read on the website that the paxton isnt smog legal on the SRT's here in California. It is on the earlier vipers, and it is for my C5 vette. Why not the SRT? Is there no emissions legal power adder that is CARB approved? This state has the worst laws..........

Gen.1 and Gen2 I believe have CARB approval, Paxton wouldn't go the expense for Gen3.

How hard would it be to remove it and reinstall for the smog check?

I did call him. They are 49 state legal. I also talked to another tuner that said that alot of guys run them and get away with it as long as it passes the sniffer. Apparently sometimes the smog tech sees the tag on it with a number for the FEDERAL approval i.e. the other 49 states and thinks its ok. Not sure I want to take that risk. I might just supercharge my C5. The paxton is legal for it and when the engine grenades a forged setup will be cheap. It will just be wrong to have my vette faster than my viper :(
