At the Sacramento drags last night, my friend Steve in his silver BPU (stock turbos) supra ran a 12.1 @ 121. The best stock Viper times I was seeing that night were 12.5 @ 118. Steve actually lined up with (and beat) the blue/white GTS there that evening, although on that run he ran 12.1 @ 116. It was the first time I've seen a BPU supra break into the 120s.

Also of interest, a rather close race between the same blue/white GTS and a modified Eclipse GSX...

Unfortunately, my streak of bad luck continued; my Viper started misfiring above 3500 on Friday evening, probably from fouled plugs (running 2 ranges colder in prep for Buttonwillow) and I couldn't get them to clear dispite two motor and one NOS run at the strip. I did, however, have fun torturing a ZR-1 corvette on one run (13.3 @ 109 to my 12.1 @ 126

, me launching at 1200 RPM to keep things "fair" since he was on street tires).

Hey SoCal -- one of these days the planets will align and I'll be able to run the car without breaking or misfiring, on tires warm enough to hook.

The 800 HP mustang did not show (he emailed me the next morning and is still working on the car) nor did the 540 WHP Eclipse, or any other unusually fast late-model street cars.

Next drag races in early September. Notes to self: (a) don't change ANYTHING for the week before the races to debug any remaining problems; (b) bring spare set of plugs and appropriate tools.
