Side sills, repaint? or not?

My side sills are chipped to the metal on the front ends near the tires. I was wondering is it worth it to paint them and apply a 3M type protective film to prevent it from happening again.

How much will I lose as far as paint quality/durability?

All the experience I have had with repainted body parts/panels has been negative. Flaking, cracking, never ever close to what the original factory paint was like. I don't plan on blending the hood or doors, just having the sills repainted.

If the prep and paint was done right, it should look better than and out last the factory paint. If the paint bugs you now, then have it redone, it'll give you peace of mind. But don't have it done by any old paint shop. Take it to the one that you have heard does the best job. Most likely they do.

Had mine done due to corrosion on the rivits. 3M tape was applied by the dealer on the areas you are talking about. I'm sure there is a TSB about it.
