I don't want to start another exhaust thread but I find my new exhaust to be a little too loud at points of the RPM. Jon B noted to me in one of our discussions that the back end of the GTS acts like a "drum" to amplify sound into the interior. I love the idle, external sound and take-off sound but wouldn't mind toneing it down inside a bit. Has anyone installed sound deadening sheets in the rear and had success? :dunno: I have RT cats and catback exhaust.

thanks

All of the fiberglass will "deaden" the sound more than metal would already, the Dynamat products will help a little but the fiberglass matting would help more.

Check out the Damplifier product from Sound Deadening Materials for Noise Reduction from Second Skin . I like these guys, great service, reasonable prices and the product works well in my opinion.

That's the exact product I did the entire seating area with when I went to side exhaust etc. If it helps, I'd hate to hear the noise w/o it, cause my car is noisy inside!

2 full evenings PER SIDE. :crazy2:

Plus several days of removing interior components, and that factory sound deadening stuff. :crazy2: :crazy2:

Dave, did you install it in your trunk? Not sure about the GTS trunk but the RT/10 trunk space acts an amplifier for the exhaust, I call it a drone amplifier. I have the damplifier sitting in my garage awaiting installation. I don't know if this is possible but since I installed the T&D rockers I've noticed a lot less drone between 2-2,500K RPM. That's about the only spot I can hear any drone from the belanger.

With my car being side exhaust now, I did not do the rear area. But I do believe I still pick up noise from there. Tires, diff gears, etc. are all right there still.

They are perforated metal cones that are inserted into your exhaust. Cut down the drone.
Available from Jon B.

They also lower the exhaust note a bit, and reduce the volume a bit too. Probably cost you a couple HP.
